These stats are significant considering how much Restore is in its infancy.
At the previous general election, only half of Makerfield residents turned out to vote.
Like in Great Yarmouth, we are activating a constituency that has had no political representation for decades.
Sod it. For the purposes of full transparency, here are our canvassing returns from Makerfield that we’ve had back so far from the door knocking today.
1,010 sample size.
24.6% for Restore Britain.
31.2% definitely against.
24.2% undecided.
20% considering.
Excluding won’t votes.
More teams coming back, so the sample size will grow a lot in the next few hours.
Largely agrees with what we’ve found over the last week - astounding response with the working class, more difficult with wealthier areas. To be honest.
Labour are the opponent in the fancier places, Reform with the working class.
Our campaign has just taken off. Great name recognition already, but clearly room to grow.
Let’s see what happens.
But we’re very happy with progress.
It's an honour to be selected to stand for Makerfield. I was born here, went to school here and represented here on the Council. Makerfield is my home. I am looking forward to the campaign and setting out my positive plan for Makerfield.
Except that it purports to claim that the area (Makerfield) has been a victim of 40 years of Thatcherism (that’s what Burnham seems to be running against, which means he’s also running against the Blair-Brown government, of which he was a part). Yet the backdrop to his wandering shows rows of neat, well-kept, substantial semi-detached homes, with plenty new cars in the driveways and a vibrant high street, despite all the road works improving it. Oh yes and a state school so good he sent his kids to it. Put simply — the pictures clash with his words of victimhood and deprivation.
Our Conservative team is incredibly proud to serve you across Altrincham and Sale West - thank you to all of those who showed support by giving us your vote 📫💙 @TraffordBlue
“Apprehending violent and dangerous criminals is a full contact and messy task which may appear shocking to observers with little experience of policing in the real world.”
Commissioner Sir Mark Rowley writes to Zack Polanski.
The King this morning received Flight Lieutenant Colin Bell for an audience at Buckingham Palace.
Now 105 years old, Flt Lt Bell was a RAF Mosquito pilot during World War II. He gave a book about his experiences to His Majesty today.
During the audience, The King presented Flt Lt Bell with the citation to his Distinguished Flying Cross, which was originally awarded to him by King George VI in 1945.
That Starmer's most likely successor thinks this costly, anti-growth, nanny statist displacement activity is "changing things for the better" does not bode well for the country's future.
Enough is enough.
Social media is taking childhood from our children.
Today, @LauraTrottMP and I met with a group of parents crying out for stronger safeguards for children online. That's why we have a plan to introduce age limits for social media access for under 16s.
The Foreign Secretary was quite cross that I didn’t congratulate Labour for all the hard work they’d done in Venezuela which includes… *checks notes*…ringing up the opposition leader and asking people to be nice to each other.
↘️She had no answer when I asked her about UK defence spending.
↘️No answer on any foreign policy changes after these extraordinary events.
↘️No answer even to her own backbenchers who attacked her position.
This drifting Labour government and its self-inflicted wounds leave us VERY exposed in an increasingly dangerous world.
Unemployment has risen every month under Labour.
Starmer’s high tax, high spend, union-led government is crushing business, destroying jobs and killing growth.
We must cut spending, live within our means and Get Britain Working Again.
Excellent work in Stockton-on-Tees (win), Lichfield (win) and Lincolnshire (v narrow defeats) council by elections last night.
Much work to do, but significant progress has been made over the last few months by @Conservatives under @KemiBadenoch
If you missed it. This is Kemi Badenoch's response to Rachel Reeves' disaster budget *in full*.
I've never seen anything like it. Kemi tears her to shreds.
This is absolutely brutal.
Well worth a watch 🔥
This is a Budget for Benefits Street & you’re going to be paying for it!
Reeves has broken her promises and hiked taxes by another £26 billion. All to fund more welfare and keep Labour MPs off her back.
No one will trust her again.
