All of my bananas unpeeled themselves as I slept last night, and I'm sitting here crying because I know exactly who did this.

My grandmother always promised she'd find a way to send me signs after she passed. "I'll make sure you know I'm still here, sweetheart," she used to say with that mischievous twinkle in her eye. Today marks exactly one year since she's been gone, and I've been struggling so hard with missing her.

Every Sunday when I was little, she'd make the most incredible banana bread. I'd stand on a chair next to her in the kitchen, watching her peel banana after banana with those gentle hands that always smelled like vanilla and love. She'd tell me stories about her own grandmother while we waited for the bread to bake, and the whole house would fill with that warm, sweet smell that meant everything was right in the world.

I woke up this morning dreading this anniversary, and then I found this in my kitchen. Every single banana had peeled itself perfectly overnight, like she was getting them ready for our Sunday baking tradition. I've never seen anything like this happen before, and I know it sounds crazy, but I can practically feel her presence in my kitchen right now.

I've been making memorial recipe cards with family stories and selling them online to help other people preserve their food memories the way she preserved ours. Every order I send out carries a little piece of the love she taught me about cooking and family.

But this morning, she reminded me that some recipes can't be written down. Some love just appears overnight, perfectly prepared, waiting for you to notice that you're never really alone.

I think I'll make banana bread today.
