@clapifyoulikeme Everyone below a certain income threshold is entitled to legal aid. You pick a lawyer (some won't take legal aid cases) and they bill the government for time spent on the case. I think they have to justify the time they're spending and they get paid very small amounts.
@AreisReising@clapifyoulikeme If you're arrested for murder do you think they're going to let you wander over to the lawyer's office to get legal advice?
@mynnoj@bierkonceagain @SpookyLovejoy Many cheap battery powered rabbit things have a base you can't get wet, and are made of jelly that is carcinogenic
Love completely unregulated industries
@SpookyLovejoy Tfw you've slightly misjudged the kind of dildo you're supposed to bring to the dildo party and your "very weird" choice of dildo is now evidence you were definitely a murderer
@james_f_thomas Like the talking to cis people about gender meme but it's the toddler excitedly showing you their drawing of you (32 fingers, arms and legs attached to the head)
@aidantaurus @uncanny_eli This seems not true if you're gay, plenty of gay men are into men being smaller than them.
Obviously very difficult for short straight men but it's not a universal truth about attraction to men
@SamanthaAsumadu Blue eyes are recessive so this is perfectly possible? If mum has 2x blue eyes genes and dad has 1x blue and 1x brown a child has 50% chance of each eye colour. Also genetics are a bit complicated and weird, spontaneous mutations happen
@McDivergence I guess the death within six months bit does at least exclude someone who will have to take increasing numbers of pills but will still not be in pain or having symptoms
@McDivergence If someone has no symptoms and isn't in any pain as long as they take a pill every day, but still has a non fatal condition are they considered terminally ill?
@AmandaB55744931 And for some people this might happen every time they see a new doctor. How can someone seek medical help if half the time they do doctors suggest they kill themselves
Whole court just pretending there weren't a bunch of articles in mainstream papers about @freddymcconnell giving birth while having a GRC
Oh it'll never come up the court doesn't need to consider it
Final ScotGov submissions are on pregnancy protections. Ruth Crawford stresses that someone with a GRC has legally committed to live in the male gender until death, and thus this doesnβt require to be taken into account by the court; but she will suggest some possible solutionsβ¦
@McDivergence And doing "what if a trans man with a GRC got pregnant, what a strange hypothetical" like Freddy McConnell wasn't in the papers a bunch for getting pregnant while legally male
@McDivergence Seems to just take "trans men shouldn't be allowed IVF " as an unchallenged assumption so strong it would be bad if trans men couldn't be discriminated against ?
And they don't even attempt to justify it
@McDivergence Particularly since paternity and maternity leave already function off "did you personally give birth" not "what is your legal sex"
you can tell most of this is being argued by straight people
@McDivergence Bizarre to think that pregnancy protections were intended as a special protection for women rather than for *pregnancy*
Previous arguments I've seen here were that the law passed making all previous laws gender neutral despite wording would apply here.
