Fire broke out at Utumishi Girls Academy in Gilgil at 2am. By 4am, Kenyans were already talking about it online.

At 6:30am, the Education CS showed up at a Prayer Breakfast at Safari Park Hotel. He stayed for 1.5 hours, eating mandazi, samosas and chapati, unaware that 16 learners had died.

He arrived in Gilgil just after 10am — over 8 hours after the fire started.

For those 8 hours, parents were stuck in agony, relying on scanty and unconfirmed posts online.

Any CS with common sense would have gone to Utumishi first, not an eating competition disguised as a prayer breakfast at Safari Park Hotel.

Like I have said since time immemorial the biggest problem in our healthcare system Private and Public are doctors,they’re the most corrupt to the core. You saw the Nairobi hospital interview yesterday the two doctors in the board collected 40 million between January and March you may think they transfuse people with the blood of Jesus Christ.
In the county governments the people looting hospitals and county funds are doctors sitting in those places as CECs,Chief officers,Medical directors and Med Sups,at the national level those at MOH,Kemsa,SHA etc are doctors busy siphoning public coffers money.
You see the problem is most doctors aren’t creative enough to build wealth through innovative means all they have is their practice i.e surgeries or consultations but they were praised as being the best academically. Unfortunately ,medicine in our country doesn’t allow much creativity but they crave for that good life,live in Karen,have a nice cars etc but they have no means of building something.
We don’t have many Ahmed Khalebis type of doctors in Kenya and so most of them are thieves.
The people who stole from NHIF and now SHA are doctors,one of the most malicious,evil and corrupt lots I’ve ever seen. 80% of those hospitals that thrive are thieves and maybe we can’t blame them because the business of healthcare is quite difficult.
My point though is a rich doctor in Karen (From Practice) probably stole your money except for the Khalebi’s type that actually spent their youth building stuff! There aren’t more than 30% of the whole lot.
So yeah the struggles of Nairobi hospital is largely caused by a few greedy doctors with close affinity to the patron!
