Cilvēktiesību attīstība noris lēnāk valstī, ja to simt gadus apspiež koloniāls režīms, bet nē, šiem gudriniekiem vēsture sākās 2023. gadā
a clear sign that I need to find something better to do with my free time: I made an hour-and-a-half long critique of the Binding of Isaac franchise

Jonathan Higgs: Yeah I'm a monkey with enterocolitis, twist my neck and show me what delight is
fuck game design. chutes and ladders but instead of chutes or ladders you play it on the set of real numbers & each turn follows a cauchy distribution. the universe is a cold place
What can I say, I like my men old and violent
@ColdwildGames@ElenaNazaire@Alex_Pinetree thanks for giving me many hours of enjoyment with SFTO <3
nsfw in thread :)
It's a difficult topic because there is value in extrinsic rewards & getting a pleasant dopamine buzz (and not just deep artistic values) from games. But god I wish we held design to higher standards.
So many games fail a simple "Does this have ANY intrinsic value?" test.
Guilty of this myself, but recently I'm getting more disturbed by how frequently the word "addictive" gets used as a positive quality for a game to have.
Worse yet, gamers themselves absolutely LOVE those same design patterns. It's only seen as an issue if monetisation is attached.
Vampire Survivors gets a BAFTA for being barely anything more than casino design with lots of moving pictures - the standards are ridiculously low.
