@fuzzyfromyt completely ruins the excitement of free agency while also destroying the parity of the league. look at the nfl, look at nba, every new player that hits free agency signs the exact same deal just because they are hitting free agency
MLB's latest proposal mimics other sports with strict contract limits.
Free agents would be limited to five-year, $202 million contracts. (That is 15% of the proposed cap number and would rise.)
Juan Soto's deal with the New York Mets was for 3x the years and 3.8x the dollars.
BREAKING: The Charlotte Hornets are trading star guard LaMelo Ball and Josh Green to the Minnesota Timberwolves for Naz Reid, a 2033 unprotected first-round pick, three first-round pick swaps (2028, 2029, 2030) and three second-round picks (2029, 2032, 2033), sources tell ESPN.
A lot of debate surrounding these two players which to me has been hard to understand. Volpe has clearly looked better at the plate and while defensive metrics are split, in terms of OAA and FRV, Volpe is far ahead.
Just in: Minnesota is sending Julius Randle and the No. 28 pick in the NBA Draft to the Brooklyn Nets in a three-team trade that sends Nic Claxton to the Chicago Bulls, sources tell ESPN. The Timberwolves will acquire Brooklyn’s No. 33 pick for Randle and No. 28.
Look around the league, the best teams that are actually winning are built of depth and balance. We’ve seen the big moves in recent years and they have rarely worked because of the sacrifice that it brings to a team
I think blowing up a team that was just the second seed without their best player is a mistake plain and simple. changing the style of basketball that the entire organization bought into is also a mistake.
David Cone on Anthony Volpe:
"When you come in as a pinch runner you gotta know how many outs there are. You're just going. There's no reason to look back or hesitate. There's two outs. Just go."
@MrSantiZap I am shocked by Bron not advancing. I thought for sure he was at least winning this with a good chance of him winning the entire thing and coming back for Roman. Seems like they’re not ready to fully commit to him yet
BREAKING: As expected, MLB proposed a hard salary cap to union officials today as part of the next CBA, sources tell ESPN. The salary floor for teams beginning in 2027 would be set at $171.2 million which includes player benefits with the ceiling at $245.3 million.
