Introducing the very first Great British Railways train 🚆
You can now spot the new GBR train in real life as the new branding starts rolling out gradually across the rail network.
Another step towards a simpler, better railway under GBR which puts passengers and customers first.
@AllisonPearson@RachelReevesMP I’m sorry but even if you don’t agree with her policies to try and reduce her is demeaning to you and all women… there is enough of that going on in the World without women doing it to women.
@comp_future “Grammar School” areas are abetter named “Secondary Modern” areas* as there are 3x more Sec Mods than Grammars (*actually better called selective areas!).
The SEND white paper promises every child will achieve and thrive. But it assumes all schools admit a representative intake. In grammar school areas, they don't — by design. https://t.co/XQDKNTH0pk
Ed Miliband gets relentless bile from the right for his ‘ideological’ commitment to clean, cheap renewable energy - just as Nye Bevan once did for creating the NHS. Yet on March 25 97.7 % of our electricity was from renewables. A revolution is unfolding. https://t.co/BdGG1gkHuD
“I spent 12 solid hours sobbing after the email came.” One mum's disappointment after their child worked 'at least ten hours a week for the past four years' to pass the 11-plus. Some sad and eye-opening stories in this article.(paywalled)https://t.co/bAY1yQx2e1
Thanks to our fantastic speakers @WayneNorrie@SmithCarl19530 and chair @nualaburgess. At our 'educators against the 11-plus' event school leaders spelled out the damage selective education causes to their schools and communities.
We're looking forward to our panel event on Nov 19th. Educators Against the 11-plus: What Educators Know, What Policy Makers Ignore. Our speakers are Dr Katy Simmons, @switherdenMP@WayneNorrie and @SmithCarl19530

Grammar schools top the new look league tables. If schools are compared purely on the results of children they actively filtered in, it’s no surprise they win. Inclusive schools, working with a broader mix of learners, simply cannot compete. https://t.co/6EgMXNKCuH
More than 100,000 children will sit the 11-plus this month. We’ve launched an open letter calling for the exam to be phased out.

Today is the Kent Test and Bucks Transfer Test. Many families feel the stress of this system, and many dislike it, even if they use it. Share your story anonymously here:https://t.co/ibLNCvznSq
"Labour are missing a trick because families can see the stress the test puts on primary age children, the pressure to waste cash on private 11-Plus tuition, and the social divide in local schools."https://t.co/bBFSBCw9CV
📊 96% of the least inclusive schools in England are grammar or faith schools. Find out how your local school ranks with our new AI-powered Fair Admissions Advisor. https://t.co/flJXvSiuxy
It's the summer holidays but for children sitting the 11-plus in September it's a stressful time. One teacher said, "she’s seen children in floods of tears on the day of their exam, telling her that they’ll be in trouble with their parents if they fail."https://t.co/ECOmXHb9W5
Horrific scenes in #Gaza, with hundreds killed just for seeking aid; people are #starving and forcibly displaced; and senior Israeli officials use dehumanising language, proposing to concentrate Gazans into a mass detention camp.
This has to stop and we must prevent #genocide.
So many children spend their summer holiday prepping for the stressful 11+ exam. ☹️"I’m told by multiple parents about pupils training five times a week and going to specialised camps throughout the summer holidays." https://t.co/ECOmXHb9W5
Absolutely the same position here.
Segregation does not benefit our children, and those who can pay (for tuition) reap benefits, the rest do not. And @BucksCouncil continue to pretend it's a fair and equitable system. It's neither.

A clip from Northern Ireland, but things are much the same here. "Not one grammar school has provision for children with special needs... The non grammar sector are doing the heavy lifting."
What is an inclusive school? We welcome this report working to give a useable definition. It suggests inclusive schools “take a representative cohort of pupils from their community, and achieve good outcomes for all these children”. https://t.co/dvsfVqjaYG
Rupert Lowe: I call it Pakistani rape gangs... 95% are Pakistani
Emily Maitlis; That's absolutely not true... 224 white grooming gang suspects were found compared to 22 Pakistani suspects... why do you only talk about Pakistani grooming gangs?
