My friends are gathering insights on how the everyday person feels about podcasts & scientific literacy. They would greatly appreciate it if you could take 5-7 minutes to complete a survey as it would help make their case for a project! 😊 @soniaigboanugo https://t.co/XQUyiRbPd1
Out of a total of 1388 medical students from 14 Canadian medical schools who responded to a survey, 11 (0.8%) students self-identified as Filipino. This is compared to the total Canadian population aged 15-34 of 247415 (2.8%). 1/7
THIS. Filipino adolescents don’t see themselves becoming doctors. The path to medicine is long, expensive and riddled with inequities that favour students from high income households with professionally-educated parents. 1/4
Congrats again @soniaigboanugo! You have such diligence, perseverance and outstanding performance who is well deserved of this acceptance. A huge s/o to Dr. Boggild @BoggildLab for being such a wonderful mentor who strives everyone to success and achieve our goals!
@FiRawle Is it possible to increase the class size? Also some students may not have access to a laptop or device that will allow them to participate in online classes. (2)
@FiRawle I believe a barrier that us students face is that there are still waitlists for most courses or class size is small given its online. We end up having to take courses that we might not need or will enjoy or we’re stuck with being on the wait list bc we need it for grad school.(1)
I spend a lot of time advocating for equity & inclusion in mainstream organizations. In the #COVID era, this means reminding people that diverse & inclusive leadership will ultimately benefit everyone, and is more important than ever during moments of crisis.
🙏🏽@gradydoctor. Our shared humanity & our differences connect us to one another & to our patients. Those underrepresented in medicine know well the power of ‘The Nod’. Representation matters. @uoftmedicine@UofTBMSA @chikastacypoet The Nod https://t.co/D7wCtarjKc
20 years ago, @seanwharton founded @UofTBMSA
He is a visionary that spent 2 decades fighting to increase the impact & representation of Black students in medicine
Today, he is an international obesity expert & is working on the frontlines of #COVIDー19
Thank you Dr. Wharton👏
@ruwandik My condolences to you and your fiancé’s family ❤️. It is an unfortunate timing but I hope everyone is doing okay and comforting each other. If you need anything or would like to talk you’ve got the Boggild lab team for support 🤗.
This year would have marked my great grandmothers 105th Birthday. Today I commemorate the 1.5 million Armenian souls that were massacred but also celebrate the survivors without whom we wouldn’t be here. (1/2)
