@Mr_SBachmeier@bonstewart I absolutely agree with this! Knowledge is power and educators need to prepare their students for the world as best they can. Technology is a growing part of our world so preparing our students properly is an educator’s responsibility! #unboundeq
@renaud_lindsay The level of surveillance is astounding, and it’s overwhelming that we can’t do a lot about it at this time. It’s a bit alarming to think that we can’t even go to a meeting and talk about a topic without technology interfering in our lives so intrusively. #unboundeq
@bonstewart Q7 A: Given so many children use YouTube, they need to be taught about this platform. They don’t need to understand all the terminology or details of algorithm bias, create an awareness that every video they watch teaches YouTube about them and what they like. #unboundeq
@bonstewart Q5 A: Tech companies should be regulated to hold them more accountable. The information online is filtered-we first see what is popular, not necessarily what we need. A librarian wouldn’t show us the book most people had taken out, instead the book best for our need. #unboundeq
@bonstewart Q4 A: Leaders and decision-makers have a lot of power and influence. They need to be aware and mindful of their own biases. Society needs to be vocal about our concerns with this issue. It starts with us. #unboundeq
@bonstewart Q3 A: First step: create awareness. Then break it down: what is bias, who has it, who is affected by it, how does it impact daily life, then talk about bias in AI. Try an experiment: students search a product, eg. laptops, then check their social media ads! #unboundeq
@bonstewart Q2 A: I think being aware is the first step. Be aware and understand the biases that lead to stereotypes which are projected through AI. What are "fairness" and "equity"? How do our biases affect how we define those, and how does AI prey on those biases? #unboundeq
@bonstewart Q1 A: A few weeks ago, I used my mom's laptop to search for tote bags. Since that search, I've had an overwhelming amount of ads for handbags and tote bags on my own laptop, my Facebook account, and my Instagram account. I'm the only one in my family with these ads! #unboundeq
