The period from 1983 to 2012 was the warmest 30-year period of the last 800 years in the northern hemisphere and likely the warmest 30-year period of the last 1,400 years. #LESSON11#WarmingEarth
Here is a surprising information that I didn't know about the carbon cycle: the amount of carbon is always fixed! The only element that increases is the circulation of the carbon in the atmosphere, principally caused by the combustion of fossil fuels. #phys273#lesson11
Thankfully, the Greenhouse gazes (H2O and CO2) are there to absorb outgoing infrared radiation and heat up the surface of the earth to about 15 degrees Celsius, instead of -18 if these gazes were not present. #phys273#lesson11
The Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) has high confidence that the past 30 years have been the warmest in 800 years! And have a medium confidence that they have been the warmest in 1400 years! This is crazy! Actions need to be taken. #phys273#lesson11
Carbon monoxyde is colourless, odourless tasteless but still is a poisonous gas! We should really beware of this gas as it has serious impacts on human being's health. #phys273#lesson10
Nice to see that the total national emissions of Carbon Monoxyde, Sulfur Oxydes, Nitrogen Oxide and Volatile Organic Compounds have reduced in the past years! Lets hope the tendency continues! #phys273#lesson10
Energy saving tool: When buying a new fridge, recycle the old one! Do NOT put it in the garbage or use it at your cottage for example. The old one is likely to use as much as 2 times the energy of the new one #phys273#lesson9
