This report reveals one of the most alarming and rapidly escalating threats of our time — micro- and nanoplastics, which have already become a factor in the planetary crisis. It is the result of extensive and unique scientific research, demonstrating the impact of nanoplastics as a hidden yet systemic threat to nature and human health

This work was first presented at the Vatican in May 2025. The compilation of this report by participants of the ALLATRA IPM, a partner organization of the Creative Society International Project, was motivated by the personal blessing that His Holiness Pope Francis gave to the ALLATRA movement and its volunteers in 2024, as well as his guidance to continue activities aimed at preserving our common home — planet Earth.

The report contains alarming scientific information about the scale and consequences of pollution caused by micro- and nanoplastics:

▪️The rapid spread of microplastics across all environments of the biosphere — from the depths of the oceans to the air we breathe;

▪️The detection of plastic particles in water, food, and the human body — regardless of geographic location;

▪️The integration of these particles into food chains and their ability to bypass natural protective barriers, including penetration into the brain and across the placenta;

▪️The accumulation of nanoplastics in organs and tissues, with health consequences that may take years to manifest;

Alarming and destructive effects on human health, including:
– Inflammation, DNA damage, and mutations
– Disruption of the endocrine system
– Accelerated cellular aging
– Impaired memory and cognitive function
– Reproductive issues, including erectile dysfunction and infertility
– An increase in cancer rates

Particularly concerning is the impact of microplastics on children — starting in the womb — including disruptions in brain development, mental health, immune function, and the nervous system.

The report also dedicates special attention to potential solutions, including innovative proposals from the ALLATRA scientific community.
