📣 Call to Action: Defend Universal Health Care, Demand Accountability

The Supreme Court has yet to issue a final ruling on the controversial ₱60 billion transfer from PhilHealth to the National Treasury, despite oral arguments concluding in April of this year.

Justice Antonio Kho has publicly stated that the funds must be returned to PhilHealth, citing violations of the Universal Health Care (UHC) Act and the constitutional right to health

Meanwhile, the 2025 national budget allocates zero subsidy for PhilHealth — a historic first that has sparked outrage among health advocates and reform leaders.

This is not just a budget issue. It’s a moral crisis.

🛑 What’s at stake?

• Over ₱600 billion in reserve funds are being withheld from the people who need them most.

• Senior citizens, indigent families, and persons with disabilities face reduced access to care due to lack of premium support

• Private hospitals are refusing PhilHealth guarantee letters due to unpaid claims exceeding ₱530 million.

• The government’s failure to remit sin tax and gaming revenues to PhilHealth violates multiple republic acts or laws

💬 Enough silence. It’s time to speak up.

We call on:

• The Supreme Court to expedite its ruling and uphold the integrity of the UHC Act.

• Congress and the Executive to restore PhilHealth’s rightful budget and remit all earmarked funds.

• Civil society, health professionals, and citizens to demand transparency, accountability, and justice.

🩺 Healthcare is not a privilege. It is a promise.

Let us not allow that promise to be broken by bureaucracy or budgetary neglect.

The Filipino people deserve a health system that protects, not abandons.
