🚨 DSA Elevates Organizer Training Young Socialists to Infiltrate Workplaces and Radicalize Unions

James Hernández and Mae Bracelin, both Bread & Roses–backed labor organizers, have won election as YDSA co-chairs and will now sit on DSA’s National Political Committee.

Hernández, an organizer with Florida International University YDSA, says young people are “downwardly mobile” and should commit themselves to class struggle by taking jobs in strategically important sectors such as health care, education, and Amazon.

She says 400 YDSA members have already committed to “industrializing.” Organizers are developing cohorts to politically educate them, prepare them to enter the workforce, and help YDSA chapters identify major employers to “salt collectively.”

Salting means deliberately taking a job at a targeted workplace to organize it from within. (See the thread below for more on this!)

Hernández wants these young socialists to make unions more “militant” and turn organized labor into a vehicle for YDSA and DSA’s broader political agenda.

Employers are already wary of recent graduates importing campus activism into the workplace. YDSA is now organizing a pipeline to do exactly that.
