He replied, “The Quran is the word of allah. The Hadith is just literature. The Quran is the main source.”

He immediately said, “No, I don’t accept that. The Hadith were written about 200 years after Muhammad, and the writers never met Muhammad. So I don’t consider them reliable.”

I said, “Ahhh… okay. Now we’re getting somewhere. So you just pick what you like and ignore the rest?.”

He said, “He said, “Erm… not exactly pick and choose. Like I said, it was written 200 years later so it’s not reliable.”

I said, “Okay, that’s exactly what I wanted to hear. The Hadith came 200 years after Muhammad, the writer never met him, so it cannot be trusted, right?”

He said “yes.”

I said, “Alright. What was your question again?”

He said, “Why do you reject the Quran and Muhammad as a prophet?”

I said, “For the same reason you just gave me for rejecting the Hadith.”

He asked what I meant.

I said, “You just told me that something written long after Muhammad by people who never met him shouldn’t automatically be accepted as reliable. The Quran was written 600 years after Jesus and the writer never met Jesus or any of His disciples, so by your own standard it cannot be trusted..”

He laughed and said, “Nice one. You got me. But there’s a difference. The Quran is from allah, the Hadith are from men.”

I said, “That’s according to you. I don’t believe that.” 😂

“You can’t simply tell me the Quran is from allah and then expect me to accept that claim as proof. I already have Scriptures that predate the Quran by centuries. Why would I throw away the earlier testimony simply because a later book says something different?”

He repeated, “But the Quran is the word of allah, not the word of man.”

I said, “Okay… can you prove that?”

He said, “How?”

I said, “Show me where allah personally spoke to Muhammad and where we can independently verify that the message actually came from allah. If you can establish that, then we have something to discuss.”

And then…

Him: “You’re breaking your own Bible rules. Women aren’t allowed to teach. I have no words for you… anyway you’ll definitely go to hell.”

Österreich, 2026.

Unsere Tochter, fast 17, hat sich zum ersten Mal richtig verliebt. Verliebt in H., 16. Beide hier geboren, beide hier aufgewachsen.

Die Tochter hat sich vor zwei Jahren aus eigenem Entschluss evangelisch taufen lassen. H. stammt aus einer bosnisch-muslimischen Familie.

Und genau da endet plötzlich die viel beschworene ,Freiheit‘.

Seine Mutter, die unsere Tochter nicht einmal kennt, stellt ihren 16-jährigen Sohn vor die Wahl:
Familie oder Mädchen.

Nicht, weil sie das Mädchen kennt. Nicht, weil etwas vorgefallen wäre. Nicht, weil die beiden einander schlecht täten, sondern weil sie Christin ist.

Das ist keine Religionsfreiheit.

Religionsfreiheit bedeutet, dass jeder Mensch glauben darf, was er möchte, oder auch gar nichts. Sie bedeutet aber nicht, dass Eltern aus ihrem Glauben das Recht ableiten können, anderen Menschen vorzuschreiben, wen sie lieben dürfen.

Und genau hier hört meine Toleranz auf.

Sie endet nicht beim Islam, nicht beim Muslimsein, sondern dort, wo Religion vom persönlichen Glauben zum Machtinstrument über das Leben anderer wird.

Ein 16jähriger Junge sollte nicht gezwungen werden, sich zwischen seiner Familie und einem Mädchen zu entscheiden, nur weil dieses Mädchen der ,falschen‘ Religion angehört.

Und unsere Tochter sollte nicht erleben müssen, dass sie als Mensch offenbar gar nicht erst zählt, weil das Etikett ,Christin‘ genügt, um sie pauschal abzulehnen.

Die beiden kämpfen jetzt, aber vielleicht gegen Windmühlen. Gegen Diktat und Überheblichkeit.

Aber wenn wir in einer freien Gesellschaft von Religionsfreiheit sprechen, dann sollten wir endlich den ganzen Begriff ernst nehmen.

Die Freiheit der Religion endet dort, wo aus dem eigenen Glauben der Zwang für einen ANDEREN Menschen wird und sich religiöse Arroganz über andere erhebt.
