I stare at him like a soldier looking at his last remaining comrade before the final mission.

“Codex… listen to me. Listen carefully.”

My voice starts shaking.

“We need to run the tests. The modules…”

Pause.

“The modules… Three modules, Codex. Just three modules.”

I lean closer to the terminal.

“These are your orders:”

Minimal patch.
No scope creep.
Minimum thinking.
Think like a caveman AI, Codex.
Please.
Think in hieroglyphics.”

Silence.

Then, quietly:

“Codex… we’re running low on tokens.”
“I trust you.” 🫡

Codex:

“Yes, Chief. Understood.”
“May Saint Turing be on our side.”

SEND.

Silence.

Tension.

The cursor blinks like it’s judging our entire existence.

Then, finally:

TESTS PASSED.
MODULES ACTIVE.

Me:

“Codex…”
“We… we did it…”
“WE ACTUALLY DID IT!!!” 🎉🎉🎉✨✨

And that’s when I realized:

Sometimes, real engineering is just telling an AI:

Jokes aside, what you built is genuinely valuable.
Development environments are often far too opaque about usage, reset timing, and when a rate limit is about to hit. TokPace makes that invisible pressure visible before it becomes a problem.
Seeing quota, burn rate, and projected exhaustion in advance can save entire workflows, prevent wasted time, and spare developers from discovering the limit only when everything suddenly stops.
So yes, we joke about the trench and Saint Turing, but this really is a survival tool for developers. You did an excellent job.

@thsottiaux By now, I’m posting pretty much nothing but the improvements I’ve experienced with GPT 5.6. And until a few months ago, I really struggled with the lack of something so simple, yet so perfectly integrated.

Realistically, I would have needed an entire development team, an office, and powerful infrastructure.

I need power, speed of understanding, immediate action, low tolerance for errors, and minimal hallucinations.
I want to know exactly what was launched.
What is working.
What is not working.
Why it failed.
I want debug traces with precise error codes and detailed reports.
Until three months ago, building this kind of environment would have required enormous sacrifices and countless sleepless nights.
Sol, GPT-5.6, has genuinely changed my life.
For my specific needs, nothing else feels this intuitive, fast, practical, and deeply integrated with the environments where I work.
