As I go through my life and my heart gets broken inside of my safe places, I have learned to cling to these words that have become somewhat of a daily affirmation “Home is a feeling, not a place”...
Not only do I say these words to myself, I sing these words in the song, Fade, off of #NashvilleCanyon part 2. I wrote Fade the day that the trajectory of my life changed forever in October of 2023. After all that I have chosen to pull myself through with as much strength, courage, confidence and compassion possible, I am able to free myself from the pain of disappointment every single time I am blessed to be able to take the stage. I am so very grateful for the feeling of home on the stage.
Over the last 15yrs of not performing, I haven’t been able to fully express myself in ways that make the most sense for my life.
Each and every single one of you that bless my heart by comin’ to MY HOME on the stage have become a major part of my journey through the pain and the joy.
Y’all have resurrected my purpose and have accepted me as I am! There is just no greater achievement than to be able to be seen and experienced as myself. I’m so lucky to vulnerably sing and chat with all of you that come to these shows!
Thank y’all for making me feel loved and valued! Excited to see and share powerful, inspiring and real moments with everyone this week!

In a stable money society, the only thing a person needs to know is to spend less than he earns, and to save. Such a society is perfect for the middle class that just wants to build a home and continue the society.
And it’s better for interest rates to be moderately high, so he can earn bank interest - because the average person has no time or inclination to engage in stock and real estate speculation. Higher interest rates also mean house prices are lower - because they are a place to live and not a speculative investment.
The only people who win on low interest rates are sophisticated schemers who can borrow at zero and make wild investment bets. If they go bad they walk away or file for bankruptcy on the special purpose entity set up for the play. If they score - they take all the gains, and then go on TV and claim special knowledge to credulous CNBC hosts.
We are living in a casino capitalism society that works against middle class savers who just want to contribute to their community.
being from the great lakes region is weirdly more important than being from illinois to me. like as a chicagoan i feel more kinship with people in milwaukee, detroit, cleveland, buffalo, etc than i do with people in the quad cities, peoria, or especially carbondale
It’s very important you read random, weird obscure books nobody puts on lists and aren’t part of some well-known tradition.
The unpopular books that inexplicably intrigue you are meant to shape you.
My son was in the Boundary Waters for a week with his church group last summer, and the experience changed how he looks at nature. I am not in the habit of posting political diatribe, but shame on whoever voted for this. The BW is a transcendent place and needs our protection.
@Emarged Sorry, I hated those 1990s movies where a beautiful woman fell for the mediocre dork with a "fun" personality. It felt like wish fulfillment for the screenwriter.
@default_friend At a sailors' bar in Copenhagen in the 80's, a huge one-eyed man squeezed me so tight I couldn't breathe. He had to make sure I wasn't German. Then a drunk Greenlander wanted to fight me because I was with a couple pretty girls. Can't vouch for the sex, but the danger was real.
