I genuinely don’t think any Spider-Man relationship will ever come close to Peter and Gwen.

And it’s not just nostalgia. Gwen was one of the few people who made Peter feel like he could actually have a normal life while still being Spider-Man.

The movies captured that really well, but the comics take it even further. Gwen wasn’t just Peter’s girlfriend. Her death became one of the biggest turning points in his entire story.

The Green Goblin didn’t just beat Spider-Man physically. He destroyed Peter emotionally and showed him that being Spider-Man meant the people he loved could become targets.

That’s why Gwen’s impact still carries through different Spider-Man universes and adaptations.

MJ is obviously important, and the Spider-Verse version of Gwen is incredible, but Peter and Gwen just hit differently.
