Highlight of the day: I had a student approach me and say “Miss Piasecki, you know I used to think reading was 👎🏼, but I started reading more and when I could read a chapter book, I found out how fun and inspiring it is! Now I love it!” Nothing beats a child’s love for reading!
Happy Hinamatsuri! (Doll Festival or Girls Day) one of my students celebrates with her family, so we brought it to the classroom! We learned about the day, learned a song, made Hina origami dolls, & more! We love learning about new cultures & the smiles are always worth it!
Students decorated their Valentine’s bags today with compliments to one another. It was the sweetest thing to watch & read and they had so much fun! I can’t wait until they get to read them all on Monday! ❤️
Valentine’s Day is my favorite holiday! And my favorite thing to do is bring joy to others. So I came up with this idea to put outside my room! Hoping to spread a little bit of joy in our school🥰
For our greeting this morning, we did the “tangled web”. Students greeted one another by rolling a hall of yarn to them and holding on to it. Then we made a web and practiced communicating to untangle it! We had so much fun and loved greeting our friends!
2nd graders experienced math stations for the first time today! This was time to be independent learners & collaborators while have meaningful conversations about math!
We played Reading Jeopardy Review today to review for our test tomorrow! Students practiced collaborating & communicating within their teams to answer questions and win pride points. We had a blast and loved working together!
Check out these awesome narratives! 2nd graders wrote about who their role models are. We’ve been working on personal narratives and I’m so proud of how their writing has turned out! @FCRSD
Engaged readers partner reading! I loved seeing these pairs working together to practice their reading skills! Independent reading is our favorite part of each day! ☺️
Can we PLEASE rethink homework! If I had homework to do after the days I’ve been having, I would choose the consequence each night. I’m tired! My mind is tired! My body is tired! I need to rest! Let’s rethink and re-evaluate homework practices.
Pictures from our past ✌🏼 Friday dance parties! I did this in Kindergarten & am happy to carry on the tradition. It’s a great way to end the week as a class!
Creating relationships has always been #1 on my list when entering a new year. This year, I created a Google form for students to fill out each morning as a quick check-in. It’s private, and helps me prepare for my day on how I can best support each student!
