Akbayan Party, led by its local leaders in the City of San Jose Del Monte in Bulacan, joined residents in a peaceful protest on Friday to demand the removal of PrimeWater and call for accountability over its continued failure to provide reliable water service.

The protesters marched from Minuyan Proper to the PrimeWater office, decrying years of recurring water shortages, poor service, and neglect. They stressed that access to clean and sufficient water is a fundamental right that should never be treated as a mere business opportunity.

Akbayan said that the growing public outrage reflects the daily hardships faced by thousands of San Joseños who continue to endure unreliable water supply despite paying for the service.

The democratic socialist political party reiterated its call for the government to hold PrimeWater accountable, end what it described as the company’s failed management of the city’s water service, and ensure that San Joseños receive the efficient, affordable, and people-centered water service they deserve.

“Water is a right, not a privilege. San Joseños have suffered long enough. It is time to put people’s welfare ahead of corporate profit,” Akbayan said.
