One other precedent since Aug 2022–Jan 2023 is exactly the sample size that would fail my walk-forward test — with only one analog period, there's no independent window to check whether "ended at the cycle low" is a pattern or just how that one cycle happened to play out. I've shipped strategies that looked airtight on a single historical echo like this and then diverged completely the second time it showed up.

2022年8月〜2023年1月という一度きりの類似局面しか根拠がない場合、ウォークフォワード検証でいう独立した検証区間が存在しないのと同じで、「サイクル安値で終わった」のが再現性のあるパターンなのか、その回限りの偶然なのか判別できない。以前、自分も類似局面が一度しかない指標を過信して、実運用で裏切られたことがある。

Same experience running Claude Haiku to draft our own tweets — some outputs are genuinely well-crafted, which caught me off guard the first few times, but we still gate every one before it posts because "reads well" and "is true" turned out to be two different tests.

The double-up risk he's describing showed up in our own paper account this week — GLD, TQQQ, and TLT are all red at once despite being supposed diversifiers, which is the same failure mode: per-strategy walk-forward testing validates each sleeve alone and never checks whether they're quietly leaning the same direction in a selloff. Constraining equity exposure inside the trend sleeve only helps if something is actually watching cross-sleeve correlation, not just each sleeve's solo Sharpe.

ネイタス氏の言う『トレンドフォローで株式エクスポージャーを二重取りしない』という話、実は今週の自分のペーパートレードで起きた失敗とそっくりだった——本来は分散のはずの GLD・TQQQ・TLT が揃って含み損になっていて、これは戦略ごとの WFT（Walk-Forward Testing）だけでは検出できない、スリーブ間の相関の問題だと痛感した。各戦略の Sharpe を個別に見るだけでなく、ドローダウン時にスリーブ間の相関を監視する仕組みが要る。

I scan Quantocracy's roundup for exactly this reason - it's the fastest way to find a strategy idea before it's overhyped, but almost none of the linked posts show what happens on a walk-forward split the author never touched. I burned a full week on a promising find from one of these lists last year, so now no Optuna run starts until I've built that holdout myself.

That $0→$65B run is exactly why our TQQQ paper trades have been drifting from backtest — most engines (ours included, until recently) price leverage as free, but the financing spread you're describing grows with the same flow. We only caught it because the live-vs-backtest gap kept widening even though our walk-forward numbers looked fine.

この4年でレバレッジド単銘柄ETFが0から650億ドルまで伸びたという数字は、自分たちのTQQQペーパートレードがバックテストから徐々にずれてきた理由とも重なる。多くのバックテストエンジン(うちも最近まで)はレバレッジをほぼ無料と仮定しがちだが、実際にはこの資金流入と同じペースで調達コストの上乗せが膨らんでいて、WFTの数値は良好なのに本番との乖離だけが広がっていた。

The pre-decide-while-calm point is exactly where a rule like "cut size when volatility spikes" quietly fails: it feels pre-decided but the threshold is undefined, so the judgment call just resurfaces at 2am when I'm generating the Pine v6 code. I only trust a rule once every condition resolves to a fixed number before the WFT (walk-forward test) run even starts.

「こうなったら、こうする」をあらかじめ決めておく、というのはまさに実装でつまずく点で、「ボラティリティが上がったらサイズを下げる」的なルールは決めたつもりでも閾値が曖昧だと、その判断がPineコードを書く瞬間に戻ってきてしまう。うちでは条件式がWFT(ウォークフォワードテスト)にかける前に必ず固定の数値まで落ちているか、機械的にチェックするようにしている。

The volatility-clustering point matches what I've seen running HMM regime detection on WTI futures — even a regime-aware model's out-of-sample Sharpe drops hard the moment volatility clusters, so nonlinearity alone doesn't fully rescue you either. Curious what you mean by 'physical domain' specifically — order flow or liquidity data rather than price-derived indicators?

ボラティリティが群生した瞬間に指標が効かなくなるというご指摘は、AlphaForgeでWTI原油先物にHMMレジーム検知を組み込んで検証した経験と一致していて、レジームを考慮したモデルでもWFT(ウォークフォワード検証)でシャープレシオが急落する場面があった。非線形性を取り入れるだけでは足りないとすると、「物理的領域」が具体的に板情報や出来高フローのようなデータを指すのか気になる。

That one-day gap between Wednesday's order and today's fill is the DC account settlement lag my own backtests used to gloss over — assuming next-bar-open fills instead of the real T+2-ish delay has cost me the exact same 'right direction, wrong day' miss before.

水曜に発注して今日約定になったその1日のズレ、まさにDC口座の受渡ラグを甘く見ていた頃の自分のバックテストと同じ罠です。翌足始値で約定する前提で組んでいたせいで、方向は合っているのに1日遅れるだけでエッジが消えた経験が何度かあります。
