“Bonsu” wasn’t an Asante name until Asantehene Osei Kwame added it to his name after conquering coastal Fante states between 1806-1807. He jumped into the sea and bragged that even the blue whale (Bonsu) is afraid of him because he had taken control over the coastal states.
The two ‘Osei Bonsu(s) ’ who are currently occupying two important paramount stools in Asanteman.
•Daasebre Osei Bonsu III, Mamponghene.
•Nana Asiboɔ Osei Bonsu III, Bechemhene.
Bechem stool belongs to the Oyoko-Adako clan whiles Mampong belongs to Biretuo. Ayekoo Nananom Amanhene. May your reign be successful and impactful.
