Yesterday, Wednesday, 14 October 2026, I received the Chief Medical Director of Yobe State University Teaching Hospital (YSUTH), Prof. Baba Waru Goni, for a progress briefing on the hospital’s healthcare services and ongoing interventions.
The engagement highlighted the significant progress being recorded under the purposeful leadership of His Excellency, Hon. (Dr.) Mai Mala Buni, CON, COMN, whose administration continues to prioritise accessible, affordable and quality healthcare as a fundamental pillar of human development and social protection.
Notably, the State Government is supporting over 800 free dialysis sessions monthly for patients with chronic kidney disease, substantially reducing the financial burden on vulnerable patients and their families.
YSUTH is also providing affordable MRI and CT scan services, attracting patients from across the region and strengthening Yobe’s position as an emerging centre for specialist healthcare and diagnostic services in the North-East.
These interventions demonstrate Governor Buni’s commitment to moving beyond physical infrastructure towards equitable healthcare access, financial protection for patients and improved health outcomes.
Our responsibility remains to consolidate these gains through stronger institutional performance, sustainable healthcare financing and continuous improvements in service delivery.

Yesterday, Friday, 9 October 2026, I declared open the Two-Day Capacity-Building Workshop for the Yobe State Security Planning and Coordination Group (SPCG).
The workshop brought together heads and representatives of security and law-enforcement agencies, senior government officials, traditional institutions, development partners, resource persons and other key stakeholders.
The engagement aims to strengthen inter-agency coordination, early-warning and information-sharing systems, and security planning for human centered development.
Under the leadership of His Excellency, Hon. (Dr.) Mai Mala Buni, CON, COMN, the Yobe State Government remains committed to supporting security institutions and advancing coordinated, intelligence-led and people-centred approaches that protect communities, consolidate peace and promote sustainable development.
Today I embraced Islam and took my Shahada. 🥹🤲
I can’t fully put into words what this means to me: peace, clarity, and a sense of coming home.
This decision came from prayer, reflection, and a lot of quiet moments with Allah.
I feel renewed. I feel seen. I feel grateful beyond words.
Alhamdulillah for guidance and for this new chapter. 🤍✨
Welcome to Islam

This is Sir, @DrGojeM, SSG, Yobe State
Today, I represented His Excellency, Hon. (Dr.) Mai Mala Buni, CON, COMN, Executive Governor of Yobe State, at the Yobe Media Summit in Damaturu, themed Harnessing Digital Tools for Community Impact and Engagement.
The Summit completed the training of 400 mainstream and community media actors across Yobe’s 17 LGAs. I also conveyed His Excellency’s approval for a second batch of another 400 participants, further expanding this important capacity-building initiative.
Our message was clear: government communication must go beyond reporting activities to explaining how policies and projects impact people and communities. Media actors should develop sectoral knowledge, communicate with facts, counter misinformation with evidence, and engage professionally and responsibly.
I commend the Honourable Commissioner for Home Affairs, Information and Culture, Hon. Abdullahi Bego, the resource persons from the University of Maiduguri, Federal Polytechnic Damaturu and Yobe State University, as well as the COYAPO team, for the quality and organization of this initiative.

APPLAUSE FOR MARYAM IBRAHIM DAN’ AZUMI, NIGERIA’S QUR’ANIC CHAMPION
I heartily congratulate Maryam Ibrahim Dan’ Azumi on her remarkable victory at the 46th King Abdulaziz International Qur’anic Competition in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
Emerging victorious in a competition featuring participants from 132 other countries is an extraordinary achievement. Her mastery of the Holy Qur’an, including memorisation, recitation, Tajweed and Tafsir, reflects years of discipline, sacrifice, dedication and an unwavering pursuit of excellence.
Maryam’s success is another powerful reminder of the enormous potential of young Nigerians to compete and excel on the global stage. Even more inspiring is the remarkable example of her family, with her elder sister, Hajara Ibrahim Dan Azumi, also having emerged first in an international Qur’anic competition in Jordan in 2024. I congratulate their parents, teachers and mentors whose sacrifices and guidance have contributed immensely to these outstanding accomplishments.
On behalf of the Federal Ministry of Youth Development, I celebrate Maryam for bringing honour to our country. May this achievement inspire millions of young Nigerians to pursue knowledge, discipline and excellence, and may Allah continue to increase her in knowledge and make the Holy Qur’an a source of guidance and blessing in her life.
Congratulations, Maryam. Nigeria is proud of you.
