It was a great honor for me to be present today at the press release where the Presidents of Somalia and Turkey, H.E. Hassan Sheikh Mohamud and H.E. Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, announced the results of Somalia’s oil exploration.
The results of Somalia’s oil exploration—particularly the modern 3D seismic data—have shown positive indicators suggesting the presence of hydrocarbon potential.
Planning for the first phase of oil drilling is set to begin, with the drilling vessel expected to arrive in Somalia in the coming months.
We reaffirm our commitment to transparency, good governance, and the protection of national interests, with the aim of ensuring that the country’s natural resources are utilized for sustainable development, job creation, and economic growth that benefits all Somali citizens.
I would like to extend my special appreciation to the Government of Turkey for the honorable role it played in implementing Somalia’s oil exploration project, as well as for its technical support and strategic partnership that led to this national achievement.
