On 10 September 2026, Amb. @sarjohbah3, AU Permanent Representative to China, received a delegation from the African Students Confederation in China (ASCC). The meeting was also attended by Dr. Regina Muzamai, Director of the Office of Internal Oversight who had paid a courtesy call on Amb. Bah.
Amb. Bah congratulated the students on the successful launch of the Confederation and encouraged them to draw lessons from China’s development experience by harnessing knowledge, technology and skills transfer to contribute to Africa’s transformation. He urged them to work collectively as one Confederation, focusing beyond individual national interests and prioritising impactful outcomes for Africa.
The students presented the background and objectives of the ASCC, officially launched on 30 May 2026, with its General Assembly comprising leaders of national African student bodies in China.
The delegation proposed areas through which African youth and students could support the work of the AU Mission in China, including promoting African culture, strengthening Africa–China cooperation, developing databases of skills and expertise among African students in China, and transforming student knowledge and skills into meaningful contributions to Agenda 2063.
Dr. Muzamai highlighted opportunities available to African youth within the AU and underscored the important role of their generation in combating corruption and advancing Africa’s development.
