We’ve just launched our first district-level poverty report, new national representative inflation data, & Phase II of our stats project; meaning better data, better decisions, hence better future for every Somali. Grateful to our partners @WorldBank
A Historic Milestone for Somalia!
SNBS launches three groundbreaking statistical achievements: District-Level Poverty Estimates, Phase II of the Somalia Statistics Project and Somalia’s first harmonized National Consumer Price Index (CPI).
The high-level event was attended by the Minister of Planning, Minister of Labour and SNBS DG. Also in attendance were Federal State Minister for Fisheries & Blue Economy, Galmudug Planning Minister, World Bank Task Team Leader, SNBS departmental directors, other government officials, UN Agencies (FAO, UNFPA), academia, private sector and media.
These tools mark a major leap in Somalia’s journey toward evidence-based policy, poverty reduction, and economic transformation, aligned with the National Transformation Plan (NTP 2025–2029) and Vision 2060.
“With the launch of these important statistical publications, we bring Somalia’s development into sharper focus — one district, one family, one future at a time.”
— Dr. Abdisalam Mohamed, Director General, SNBS
