Serikali kupitia Wizara ya Afya imeahidi kushirikiana na Taasisi ya Khoja Shia Ithna ili kuimarisha huduma za macho nchini ikiwemo utoaji wa huduma ya upasuaji mdogo, vipimo pamoja na kutoa miwani katika makundi mbalimbali ya wananchi wenye uhitaji wa huduma hizo.
Hayo yamesemwa Juni 30, 2024 na Waziri wa Afya Mhe. Ummy Mwalimu wakati wa hafla ya uchangiaji fedha kwa ajili ya kununua vifaa vya kisasa na kuboresha miundombinu katika Taasisi ya Khoja Shia Ithna Asheri Charitable Eye Centre iliyopo Manispaa ya Temeke jijini Dar es salaam.
Waziri Ummy ameipongeza Taasisi hiyo kwa kuendelea kuwahudumia Watanzania kwa kufikisha huduma hizo karibu na sehemu wanazoishi huku akiahidi kuendelea kuwapa ushirikiano wa karibu ili waweze kutimiza malengo yao na waendelee kushirikiana na Serikali katika kuimarisha utoaji wa huduma za Afya nchini.
Aidha, ameishukuru Taasisi hiyo kwa kutoa msaada wa Kifaa tiba Aina ya OPTICAL COHERENCE TOMOGRAPHY with ANGIOGRAPHY (OCT-A) kinachotumika kufanya uchunguzi wa matatizo ya macho ambazo kitakabidhiwa Serikalini ili kuimarisha utoaji wa huduma za macho nchini.
Kwa upande wake Mwenyekiti wa K.S.I Charitable Eye Centre ndugu Anverali Rajpar wakati akitoa salaam za Taasisi amesema Taasisi hiyo imekuwa ikitoa huduma za upimaji wa macho pamoja na upasuaji mdogo wa mtoto wa jicho (Eye Cataract).
“Taasisi hii imekuwa ikitoa huduma hizi kwa kuweka kambi katika mikoa mbalimbali na kambi hizo zimekuwa na mafanikio makubwa kutokana na sababu kuwa huduma kutolewa kwa gharama ndogo ya Shilingi 10,000 kwa huduma zote na mtu akiwa hana kiasi hicho anahudumiwa bila malipo”. Amesema Raipar.
Ameongeza kuwa upasuaji mdogo wa kutoa mtoto wa jicho hufanyika kwa gharama ya Shilingi 50,000. ambapo katika kipindi cha miaka mitatu kuanzia 2021 hadi 2023 jumla ya wagonjwa wa macho 35,400 walipatiwa huduma kwenye kituo hicho, kati yao wagonjwa 3,853 walifanyiwa upasuaji mdogo na wagonjwa 11,680 walipatiwa miwani ya macho.
