I’ve written for the Co‑operative Party about the pressures facing community buildings and why VAT relief would make a real difference.
I’m really pleased the Co‑op Party is taking this forward, and proud to have brought the campaign for change into the national conversation!
Community centres and village halls are at the heart of our communities – but the rising cost of repairs are putting them at risk.

Their separate and joint contributions to our community have made it a much better place to live and I am honoured to have worked with them for many years as community activists and volunteers, and now as District Councillors.
This International Women's Day theme, “For ALL Women and Girls: Rights. Equality. Empowerment.”, reminds us that we still have a lot of work to do to truly ensure no one is left behind.
I feel lucky to work with so many incredible women in our community and across North Herts Council chamber.
This year, I particularly want to celebrate my Baldock Councillor colleagues, @Emma4Baldock and Rhona Cameron, who are fellow councillors but also dear friends.
It was an absolutely beautiful day to be back out on the doorstep yesterday!
Loads of great conversations with residents about the things they care about and a very positive reception for my campaign for County!
The Government has today announced a new deal for GPs. This is extremely welcome after the years of difficulty that our communities have had with accessing vital services.
💰GPs will see an extra £889 million next year to support rebuilding general practice.
The measures include:
👨⚕️👩⚕️Bringing back the family doctor relationship.
🚩Cutting through red tape - almost halving the number of targets and measures.
💻Online booking for appointments in all surgeries by October to end the 8am scramble for appointments
The values that established our movement and have developed over the last 125 years drive us forward to work for the service of others and I am proud to stand and represent my community as a Labour councillor.

The Labour Representation Committee (LRC) is formed in London following a socialist conference.
The 129 delegates pass Keir Hardie's motion to create “a distinct group to represent working class people in Parliament”.

It's great to see that the Government is investing £25 million in our local hospices!
I'm particularly happy to see that the @GHHospice who do incredible work serving local people across North Herts and Stevenage and help take a great deal of pressure off of our NHS.
