It is with profound sorrow and a heavy heart that I received the sad news of the passing of my esteemed colleague and brother, Rt. Hon. Yaya Toungo, the Honourable Member representing Gombe/Kwami/Funakaye Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives.

Rt. Hon. Yaya Toungo was a dedicated public servant, a committed legislator, and a passionate advocate for the welfare and development of his constituents. Throughout his service in the National Assembly, he demonstrated exceptional leadership, humility, and an unwavering commitment to the progress of Gombe State and Nigeria as a whole.

As a fellow son of Gombe State and colleague in the National Assembly, I am deeply saddened by this monumental loss. His demise is not only a great loss to his immediate family but also to the people of Gombe/Kwami/Funakaye Federal Constituency, Gombe State, the House of Representatives, and the entire nation.

On behalf of myself, my family, supporters, and associates, I extend my heartfelt condolences to his beloved family, the good people of Gombe/Kwami/Funakaye Federal Constituency, the Government and people of Gombe State, and the leadership and members of the National Assembly.

I pray that Almighty Allah (SWT) forgives his shortcomings, grants him Aljannatul Firdaus, and gives his family, friends, constituents, and colleagues the strength and fortitude to bear this irreparable loss.

Though he has departed from this world, his legacy of service, dedication, and commitment to humanity will continue to inspire generations to come.

As Muslims across Nigeria and the world celebrate the blessed occasion of Eid El-Kabir, I, Hon. Ali Isa JC, heartily felicitate with the good people of Balanga/Billiri Federal Constituency, the entire people of Gombe State, and Nigerians at large.

Eid El-Kabir remains a profound reminder of faith, sacrifice, obedience, love, and total submission to the will of Almighty Allah. It is a season that calls on us all to reflect on the enduring lessons of unity, compassion, tolerance, and peaceful coexistence for the progress of our communities and nation.

At this critical moment in our national journey, I urge all citizens to embrace peace, strengthen the bonds of unity, and continue to support efforts aimed at building a more prosperous, secure, and united Nigeria. Let us use the lessons of this sacred celebration to promote harmony, mutual understanding, and collective development irrespective of political, ethnic, or religious differences.

SALUTES AND APPRECIATION TO MEMBERS OF THE ALL PROGRESSIVES CONGRESS (APC) IN BALANGA/BILLIRI FEDERAL CONSTITUENCY, GOMBE STATE FOR ENTRUSTING HIM WITH THE PARTY’S TICKET FOR THE 2027 GENERAL ELECTIONS!

I did not take it for granted when, about a couple of weeks ago, the stakeholders of my party (the All Progressives Congress), in their wisdom, endorsed me as the consensus candidate of the party to fly its flag for the seat of Balanga/Billiri Federal Constituency at the National Assembly in the 2027 general elections. When that decision was taken, other aspirants who willingly submitted themselves to the process of the consensus option chickened out of it when the decision didn't favour them.

Through a series of actions, they insisted that the party must conduct Direct Primaries for all the aspirants, which is also within their rights as aspirants to ask for. And true to the democratic culture of the party, the leadership of the party agreed to their demands and set the primary elections for House of Representatives aspirants on Saturday, May 16, 2026. Having done that and having fulfilled the demands for a level playing field for everybody in the party, we all went into the process and began courting party members for their votes.

To God be the glory
I have just emerged victorious by landslide in today's primary election, which has further confirmed that my choice by the party’s stakeholders as the consensus candidate of the party for Balanga/Billiri Federal Constituency a few days ago was neither a fluke nor an error. The decision was well-rooted in the evidential progress I have made as the representative of the constituency during two terms. With this victory, I want to assure our party once again that I will work steadfastly with all members and leadership of the party to make sure that we win the 2027 general elections at all levels.

Again, let me use this opportunity to extend a hand of fellowship to all my opponents; that we should all come together in the interest of our party to succeed together. We can always win together and collectively bring peace, unity, and prosperity to our people as our common goal. The APC is a big tent that can accommodate both our individual and collective interests, which, therefore, means we cannot afford to be either bad losers or bad winners. Let us all be good winners in the interest of our people and our party.

My sincere appreciation goes to the National Leader of our party, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR; the State Leader of our party, His Excellency Alhaji Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya, CON (Danmajen Gombe); the National Chairman of our party and his National Working Committee; the State Chairman of our party and the entire State Working Committee for ensuring that all voices were heard and for creating the enabling environment for a free and fair primary election. AGAIN, TOGETHER WE SHALL DEVELOP BALANGA/BILLIRI FEDERAL CONSTITUENCY, AND BRING MORE DEVELOPMENT TO GOMBE STATE AND NIGERIA IN GENERAL!

I am deeply honoured by the wisdom and decision of the stakeholders of my party, the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Gombe State, today, Sunday the 3rd of May 2026, to endorse me as the consensus candidate of the party to fly its flag in the 2027 general elections for the seat of the Balanga/Billiri Federal Constituency in Gombe State at the House of Representatives.

While I stand in deep gratitude to this body of eminent and honourable elders for their unflinching trust in me, I also do not take their trust and endorsement lightly because I know that while their endorsement is a vote of confidence in me for my impeccable stewardship as the current representative of Balanga/Billiri Federal Constituency at the National Assembly, it is also a clarion call on me to strive to do more to bring more development to the constituency and to Gombe State in general. On that score, I stand on my honour that I will not disappoint the stakeholders and members of my party in the same way that I have not disappointed the people of my constituency who trusted me twice to deliver.

While I appreciate the magnitude of this historic moment, I believe that it will be noble to also appreciate and commemd the doggedness of my fellow contestants in Balanga/Billiri Federal Constituency for their support and development of our party. I want to use this opportunity to specifically acknowledge such great personalities as Hon. Victor Mela Danzaria, Hon. Rambi Ayala, Hon. Alfred Attajiri, Hon. Engr. Nayiyre, Hon. Tony Nakale, Hon. Mijinyawa and others who have shown interest in the same office. They are all great people who are passionate about the progress and development of our constituency, and I will want to use this opportunity to seek their trust, support, and partnership so that we can continue to strengthen our party and win the forthcoming general elections at all levels collectively. Together, we can continue to elevate Balanga/Billiri Federal Constituency and Gombe State in general to higher pedestals of glory and success.

I will not conclude without making a special mention of the gracious support and contributions of His Excellency, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR; His Excellency, Alhaji Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya (Dan Majen Gombe); the Honourable Speaker of the House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Tajudeen Abbas, PhD, GCON (Iyan Zazzau), the Gombe State APC Chairman, and all the party leaders for making this journey a success. I owe them a debt of gratitude, which I will pay back by committing myself wholeheartedly to ensuring that the APC wins the presidential, gubernatorial, the National and State Assembly elections in 2027 by the grace of God.

Let me use this privilege to assure our amiable Governor of the people, His Excellency Alhaji Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya (the Danmajen Gombe), that I will continue to partner with him in his impeccable drive towards the infrastructural development of Gombe State. His unwavering drive to put Gombe State on the global map of development has been well-noted, and we will not let this vision and mission be derailed.

REJOINDER: GOMBE SOUTH GROUP WARNS AGAINST "POLITICAL OPPORTUNISM", SEEKS TINUBU'S

First and foremost, we wonder why a supposedly "concerned group" that labels itself as Concerned Citizens of Gombe South will not be bold enough to list their names as signatories to their open letter to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, which was carried on some prominent national newspapers, commencing from their online editions of Wednesday, April 29, 2026, in which they cowardly betrayed their sense of political self-defeat by being mischievously hostile to the recent defection of Rt. Hon. Ali Isa JC, PhD, from the PDP to the APC.

The fact that they couldn't even summon the courage to pen their names as signatories to their letter beneath the amorphous identity of Concerned Citizens of Gombe South is sufficient proof that they are simply being opportunistically mischievous and would rather hide their identities behind an unknown group that guarantees them the anonymity that cowards always covet. If Hon. Ali Isa JC is such a lightweight politician or an opportunistic politician who "seeks to exploit the system for personal gain" as they claimed, then their convictions should have given them the strength of character to reveal their true identities so that the great people of Gombe South can know who these so-called champions of their interests are, and to also find out whether any of them has a culvert or even a community borehole to their name.

Therefore, since they are scared of telling the people of Gombe South who they really are, it has become easy for us to surmise that the group is made up of failed politicians who have no achievements to show to the people of Gombe South as proof of their love and service to them in politics and public service, and among them are possibly those whom Hon. Ali Isa JC has defeated previously and who are still afraid that he will defeat them again in the forthcoming elections because of his very intimidating record of achievements as the representative of Balanga/Billiri Federal Constituency. Ordinarily, aren't they supposed to compete with him based on their own records rather than resorting to cheap, worn-out strategies of blackmail and fear-mongering?

In their twisted logic, the so-called Concerned Citizens of Gombe South claim that the defection of Hon. Ali Isa JC to the APC and his well-reported engagements with national stakeholders of the party as well as stakeholders of the party in Gombe State is a desperate effort by the distinguished politician to secure the party’s automatic ticket for the 2027 elections at the expense of those "who have, over the years, dedicated their time, resources, and energy to building and strengthening the party across Gombe South" without providing any scintilla of proof on how they built or strengthened the APC in Gombe South, because, what we all saw happen during the defection of Rt. Hon. Ali Isa JC to the APC on Wednesday, April 22, 2026, was what can be truly defined as the rebirth and strengthening of the APC in Gombe South.

For the first time, the Gombe South Zonal chairman of the APC was given a brand new luxury car, and the Chairmen of the party for Balanga and Billiri Local Government Areas were also given brand new cars while all the Ward Chairmen of the party in both LGAs were given a brand new motorcycle each by Hon. Ali Isa JC during the ceremony of his defection. So, in what ways were these so-called stakeholders spending their time, resources, and energy to build the APC in Gombe South when they left the party in a state of neglect until Hon. Ali Isa JC came and gave it fresh breath and energy?

Moreover, if these so-called Concerned Citizens of Gombe South really care about the interests and development of Gombe South, they would have applauded and welcomed the entry of Hon. Ali Isa JC, PhD, into the party because he didn't join the party as a liability but as an asset, and that's because, with all sense of modesty and objectivity..

it is extremely difficult to find a politician in Gombe South with his impeccable record of achievements in infrastructural projects and human development across Balanga/Billiri Federal Constituency, which he dutifully represents at the National Assembly. If they currently have such a politician with his pedigree, let them show him to the public and let us have a debate about achievements that bear direct positive impact on the people.

For example, in the history of Balanga/Billiri Federal Constituency, Rt. Hon. Ali Isa JC is the only representative who thought and considered it expedient to construct high calibre, well-paved roads for some major communities in the constituency in order to ease transportation for the people as well as boost socioeconomic activities. In under 3 years, he constructed the Billiri - Laushi Daji Road; Talasse - Bangu Road; Yolde - Nyuwar Road; Bambam - Dadiya Road, and the Bambam - Hospital Road. And within the same period, he was also able to construct more than 40 schools, installed solar streetlights in various communities, did several motorised boreholes, built shops for traders, constructed worship centres for both Christians and Muslims, including many other infrastructural projects.

And if they claim to be more concerned about the interests of Gombe South more than Hon. Ali Isa JC or anyone else, are they now pretending to be unaware of the recent establishment of a Federal Orthopaedic Hospital in Billiri, which will serve a large swathe of the entire Northeast, and which was birthed by his determined efforts through a Bill, which he followed through till it was passed by both Chambers of the National Assembly and eventually got the President and Commander in Chief of the Armed Forces, His Excellency Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, to sign it into law?

Time and space will not allow us to go into details of just 5 percent of the achievements of this great politician who has not only elevated Balanga/Billiri Federal Constituency in Gombe State to Nigeria's national map of reckoning and recognition but Gombe South as a whole. But let it be established that in a democracy such as ours, all political parties, including their leaders and stakeholders, are always eager to have result-oriented people like Rt. Hon. Ali Isa JC, PhD, in their midst. Therefore, it is childish as much as it is ridiculous to blackmail the Honourable Speaker of the House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Tajudeen Abbas (the Iyan Zazzau) and accuse him of committing any crime against the APC for his patriotic role in the defection of Hon. Ali Isa JC into the APC.

It is in this same spirit of recognition of achievements and talents that the President and Commander in Chief of the Armed Forces of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, His Excellency Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, warmly received him into the APC, and that was the same reason that guaranteed his warm embrace by the Executive Governor of Gombe State, His Excellency Alhaji Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya (Dan Majen Gombe). Therefore, it is always a waste of time and resources for failed politicians or regional bigots to be writing insane open letters that seek to promote exclusion instead of inclusion. Instead of wasting their time in this manner, it is advisable that they join their hands with Rt. Hon. Ali Isa JC, PhD (Makaman Cham) to strengthen the APC in Gombe South and Gombe State in general in order to win elections and bring more development to the zone and the State in general unless they have a different agenda from development. If so, let them be bold and table their agenda openly for all to see.

Earlier today, I received a member of my defunct Central Working Committee, an elder and an honorable grass root politician, Baba Aminu Chansi. He is an influential and well respected figure in Kawo Ward, Rafin Guza to be specific. He came with his son, Sani Aminu who received his letter of appointment to serve as aide to the Minority Whip of the 10th House of Representatives. His son was chosen by my Senior Counsellors after consulting among themselves. He is a decent young man. He is qualified and I have no doubt he will contribute to the office of one my favourite Senior Parliamentarians, Hon. Ali Isa JC, (@Ali_IsaJC). I reminded the young man that the better he performs, the more opportunities others from Kaduna North will get.
