Sending blessings upon the Prophet Muhammed (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) is one of the greatest acts of worship encouraged in Islam.
It was narrated from Aws ibn Aws that the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said:
“The best of your days is Friday. On that day Adam (peace be upon him) was created; on that day he died; on that day the Trumpet will be blown; and on that day all of creation will swoon. So send a great deal of blessings upon me (i.e. on Friday), for your blessings will be shown to me.” (Narrated by Abu Dawud, 1047; classed as sahih by Ibn al-Qayyim in his comments on Sunan Abi Dawud, 4/273; classed as sahih by al-Albani in Saheeh Abi Dawood, 925.
Arabic words that embody respect…
Highlighting words that embody respect, honor, and dignity. Each word has its own nuance and usage, and many have been borrowed by languages ranging from Persian to Swahili.
The artwork consciously blends Arabic words - in a calligraphic variety known as Dīwānī Fārisī - with art that originates in the Mughal and Persian cultural spheres. It is of the nature of cultures to influence each other and create products of more richness and appeal.
All 9 images feature the Al-Khiḍr (also known as Khezr, Khizr, or Hızır), a figure described in the Qur’an as righteous servant of God (though he is not mentioned by name). He also figures as a saint in many Islamic and non-Islamic traditions. For example, he is identified with Saint George or John the Baptist in some Near Eastern Christian traditions and is also revered in the folk traditions of South Asia.
