It’s one thing to build from the bottom up; it’s an entirely different thing to carve from the top down.

The Kailasa Temple was carved from a single block of volcanic basalt, creating a monumental freestanding temple. Its precise engineering, intricate carvings, and sheer scale are still hard to fully explain, especially considering it was achieved with hand tools more than 1,200 years ago.
