🇮🇹 🗞️ | SuperGuida interview with #CanYaman - Part 2 Q:Is there a historical figure in television or cinema that you would like to play? A: “All successful characters are fascinating. In America there is a different tradition. I think of James Bond or the great heroes who are reinterpreted by different actors over the years. In Europe we have fewer figures of this type. For me Sandokan is already a huge fortune. I am a Turkish actor who arrives in Italy and is confronted with an iconic character, loved by the public and played beautifully in the past by other actors. It's a big responsibility. However, there are series that I really like. For example, Banshee, an American action series that I love. Looking at her I often thought that it would be wonderful to play that character. Sometimes, when I watch a movie or a series, I wonder how I would have dealt with a certain role.” Q:You worked in soap operas, dramas and international productions such as Il Turco and Sandokan. When will we see you at the cinema? A:”I've never been obsessed with the big screen. After Covid, the sector has changed a lot. Today's productions invest mainly in television series because they represent a more sustainable economic model. A series can last several seasons and guarantee continuity. Movies still exist, of course, but they often stay in theatres for a shorter time before landing on the platforms. It's not a criticism, it's just an observation. If one day an interesting film proposal comes up I will certainly consider it. For example, we are evaluating a project for Brazil that would even require learning Portuguese. However, to date, about ninety percent of the offers I receive concern television series.” Q:We saw your artistic growth until you got to Sandokan. Where do you want to go now? Is there a role or a director you dream of working with? A:”I'm often asked about the director. The truth is that I don't have a precise name. In the past I dreamed of working with some directors and, after meeting them, I realised that the reality was different from how I had imagined it. On the contrary, there are professionals that I didn't know at all and who won me over. It happened with Jan Michelini in Sandokan. I discovered an extraordinary person, very present and attentive to every detail. Today the sector works differently than in the past. Platforms have a central role: they decide on budgets, choose projects, often also influence the choice of actors and directors. That's why it doesn't make much sense to dream of a single director. Rather, I would like to work in a large international production, with large budgets and all the necessary conditions to realise a high-level project.
