Enjoyed discussing the role of education + skills in productivity with @WPI_Strategy@NHBC@antoniabance yesterday. Consensus on the importance of essential skills + on practical recommendations: support for @Skills_Builder Universal Framework as model for how to raise standards.
Great to see the emerging data from the @CareerEnt pilot which encourages primary schools to weave careers education into the curriculum and make links with employers. A 30% increase in girls' interest in traditionally male-dominated sectors like business and finance!
Spreading the joy in the spirit of the festive szn: On Fri I visited UTC Warrington- a University Technical College for 14-19 year olds. High FSM but high outcomes- only 2% NEET and 67% of subsequent appships are at higher/degree level. Gold @Skills_Builder award+gold outcomes!
Really proud that @Skills_Builder has been part of the review of the Gatsby Benchmarks for good career guidance. Congratulations to @GatsbyEd colleagues for their impressive work, which you can read about here- https://t.co/xmnQPg3F6L

As a former civil servant, I enjoyed this @bcs interview with someone who moved from the nuclear industry to government space regulation for 1 year.
Their advice? Don't 'be daunted by a space related career because there are so many transferable skills from other industries'.
Interesting but unsurprising research from @suttontrust on the GB Olympic medalists.
Would you have guessed that none of the England women’s football World Cup squad in 2023 went to private school?
