Next is live tonight from Mesa County, where Tina Peters’ crimes had a financial and reputational cost to the community. DA Dan Rubinstein (R) tells me that Polis’ decision is “out of touch with Western Colorado” and indicates he doesn’t understand the impact of Peters’ crimes.
No opposition party can accept this state of affairs and retain respectability, and getting Democrats to understand that latter point prior to January 2029 is critical to the survival of democracy in the U.S.
This is a hard article to read, but I hope you'll do so. I've spent some time reporting on widespread rape and other sexual violence of Palestinian male and female prisoners by Israeli authorities, and the article is now published. The assault victims were warned not to give speak of what they endured -- they were sometimes told they would be killed or raped if they gave interviews -- but they found the courage to do so. One man described being raped three times in a single day in Israeli prison, the third time after he tried to protest. A young woman said the guards would come in at the beginning of each shift and strip her naked and abuse her. Another reported that she was shown photos of herself being raped and warned they would be released unless she cooperated with Israeli intelligence. Even three children who had been detained told me they had been sexually abused. Look, whatever our position on the Middle East, we should be able to agree on being anti-rape. Sexual assaults were horrific when Israeli women were targeted on Oct. 7, and they're equally horrific when Israeli authorities use them against Palestinians day after day after day. We should be able to find common ground in opposing rape. Here's a gift link to the article: https://t.co/aMMHId49OO
This basically happened in Missouri. There was a statewide vote to force Kansas City to allocate at least 25% of its local budget to police funding. It passed, despite the city voting against it 66-34. So the rest of the state got to vote on and determine 25% of the KC budget.
Honoring the legacy of civil rights leaders by leaving southern black voters completely out to dry and doing nothing to remediate their loss of representation
Here, Judge Diamond orders a bond hearing for a detained Russian national -- and then lays out that 1/6 cases filed in the Eastern District of Pennsylvania have been ICE detentions. And every ruling (201) has gone againt the government. https://t.co/YoSQBASVOm
@DouthatNYT If that were true, then your producers would have reached out to inform me. But you were quietly hoping I would just go away and you could shelve the tape forever. No one believes this horse manure, Ross. You’re only compounding your reputational damage by lying.
I still can’t get over that a certain guy emailed another guy ON CHRISTMAS saying he wanted to attend a wild party right after he could GET AWAY FROM HIS KIDS, and he he hasn’t acknowledged this email AT ALL and has been deboosting all mentions of it
@getheode@Broken_Imp@isaiah_bb I disagree with you that communism and fascism are mutually exclusive, which I think is the root here - if we believe ourselves to be incapable of totalitarian cruelty, we will create new, unchecked weapons of oppressions
Whenever conservatives or whatever the fuck you want to call them realize that the crazy racist asshole they liked isn’t working out they come back to the liberal side and start doling out advice
