A YP w DLD is doing the DLD&Me programme with me at the mo. She has made this incredible artwork to explain her DLD & consented to me sharing it to raise awareness of this hidden condition impacting all areas of her life. Please retweet to raise awareness of #devlangdis
I'm a little embaressed, a little nervous, a little thrilled and a little shy, but wanted to share this... hoping it makes a difference for some of you out there, in your daily interactions . Hearing poeple, looking at you!https://t.co/7Tp6umIey2
I have decided to write something about some of the things that were said on Twitter recently about Talkabout and me. Hope you find my blog useful.

New preprint! "Literacy skills seem to fuel literacy enjoyment, rather than vice versa" https://t.co/hrDNWKulwU We tested the direction of causation in 3,690 twins aged 12. See here what we found (1/5):
This #devlangdis visual from @RADLDcam is truly brilliant. I hope to see it displayed in all schools I visit in preparation for DLD day and beyond I love it.
Brief summary of presentations focusing on #DevLangDis & Adolescence #IDLDRC important themes include need for autonomy supportive interventions, understanding of adolescent oral discourse skills @LizzHillSP and whole school approach @ChristineDArcy_
Lots of our followers already know that Developmental Language Disorder is common in young people with social, emotional, mental health needs. Let's let the rest of twitter know too. Please RT. #DevLangDis#SEMH
@lilwood_SLT I had a similar one recently. Weirdly though he was stimulable for /d/ word medially so we did lots of work on that, moving to word initially e.g. spider...der. Then got him to whisper to get a /t/. Also got mum to touch his tongue tip & behind front teeth to show him placement
I often find myself trying to explain to staff how important the use of visuals is. Then find my advice isn’t taken on board. So I made a visual for the staff..
I thought it might be handy for some others.

I’ve done CPR many times. I’ve also done it on my own son - it’s awful.
It’s not nice to have to do it but it does save lives.
Imagine the consequences of not knowing what to do.
Please share - it could save a life.

A child's answer on the extended RAPT today...
Me: He's posting a letter, what else could he post in there?
Child: His friends?
Me: Really? Do you think they'd fit in there??
Child: His family?
😳
