@Neuro_CarolynP Also not all mentors need to provide academic advising. Find someone that understands your background and can give you life guidance. Especially if you’re a first gen.

Hi, Satan! I’m an immigrant from a developing country (people often incorrectly use “third-world” to describe these) who just left her research position at NASA to begin a PhD program in planetary science. When working at NASA, nearly half my colleagues were foreign nationals.
I once got a consult for nonsensical speech. She was from the Caribbean and spoke an English creole similar to my own Guyanese creole. Turns out no one could understand her and assumed she had a neurological problem.
This is why representation matters
So I stumbled across this on Amazon yesterday...somebody pinch me! I began this book journey 4 years ago, but it feels surreal to actually see it listed. I can’t wait for release day!
