Time for our next #meettheartist; exhibitors in our #wearecommoners exhib. We're thrilled to include curator @JustineBoussard & artist @AliceMc_Lean who work together to highlight examples of land based commons that have been saved through grass-root campaigning across the ages.
Delighted that our tokens which were designed in collaboration with Walsall Road Allotment plotholders @AllotmentCat have been acquired by Birmingham Museum Trust 🌟 @BM_AG#wearecommoners@tweetcraftspace
Pleased to announce @BM_AG has acquired 2 Walsall Road Allotment tokens into Birmingham’s collection. The tokens were co-designed by some of the allotment plot holders, along with designer @AliceMc_Lean & curator @JustineBoussard for #WeAreCommoners@tweetcraftspace
We're so pleased that such an important local campaign will be represented in @BM_AG's collection. Justine & Alice’s collaboration with the @AllotmentCat plotholders commemorated a historic event of #commoning. A great story of what can be achieved when people #WorkTogether
Two brass tokens designed by @AliceMc_Lean based on drawings by @AllotmentCat plot holders at the Walsall Road Allotments in #Birmingham - part of a project conceived and delivered by Alice McLean and curator Justine Boussard for #WeAreCommoners - have now been acquired by @BM_AG
In 2019 Walsall Road Allotments were at risk of being destroyed as part of the Commonwealth Games 2022 regeneration masterplan.
A campaign to save them was led by several humans and seven stray cats, spearheaded by the charismatic Robert @AllotmentCat
Inspired by plotholders everyday acts of commoning; looking after the land and their community the badge reminds us there are other ways to own

Very special visitors yesterday - Justine and Alice, the artists who made these beautiful tokens. Some of our humans helped to design them. They are about how we saved the allotments. Justine and Alice brought some in a frame for the veranda. There is exciting token news soon!
I really loved meeting you and Justine today. I've heard all about the beautiful token you made and I loved it that you brought some in a frame for the veranda. I'll tell my Dorothy Dumpling all about it, I'm sure she will be impressed. She was sorry to have missed you today .
#WeAreCommoners opens tomorrow at Leicester Gallery @dmuleicester. The exhibition invites you to become or recognise yourself as a #Commoner, featuring UK and international artists.
