So long as the heart continues to pump, stunning is permissible. Most UK halal meat sold in supermarkets comes from animals stunned with captive bolt.

The rules of Halal dictate that the animal has to be alive when it is bled out and a prayer must be made. Most Muslims agree that stunning is permissible so long as it doesn't kill.

Most halal meat in the UK is from animals that have been stunned with captive bolt. It's the exact same practice as non-halal. The only real difference is the former involves a prayer.

@franalicee Your point about allergies is incorrect. Plant-based foods often cause more sensitivities that animal products. A child with leaky gut would really struggle with vegan school meals.
