I'd really like someone to explain to me why duties on items like shirts are 100% when we have zero manufacturing capabilities...again what local businesses are y'all supposedly helping????
@quidpropanda20@JamieBonkiewicz If you needed to be told for 10 years straight not to vote for a lying, fraudulent, con artist rapist and still did, you're the only idiot here.
I love buying from local designers. I would only buy local if I could honestly but some of y'all need to be forreal...I went to try on a pants and the button was so thin and flimsy it broke in half when I went to unbutton it...you can't charge ppl 300 Mia Motley dollars for that.
@adreaminadream Not sure how I was rude but you were given many opportunities to inform me and each time it was met with a lot of platitudes and not much practicality but you're entitled to how you feel
@adreaminadream The choices are not great. We also need to consider our economy and our infrastructure. 400mil annually in foreign currency expenditure on fuel alone. Ppl hate when govt borrows and Mia been begging for money through climate change initiatives that fall on deaf ears.
@adreaminadream I just don't think we have many options. I'm not sure we could stop it if we wanted to should they decide it's enough oil to bother with. We can only try to benefit from it. We could say no but the US seems to respect sovereignty less and less these days.
@adreaminadream That's because everyone realized that the alternative is to be at war whether indirectly/directly or through a coup for which there are many current examples. You can stall if you want to but that will likely only result in worse terms for us.
@adreaminadream The govt has to act quickly if they intend to make any deals that benefit us. This isn't something they can just sit on. I totally get the climate argument but the truth is, that was never up to us
@adreaminadream It is, but if anyone is capable of doing it, it's them. As their war continues in the middle east, it might be advantageous if they can find a source close to home in the Caribbean. But our sovereignty means little in this situation.
It's the same issue Guyana had, it's either you let those ppl in or they will kick down your door. And at this time when the international courts don't give AF about larger territories, I'm not gonna hold my breath that they will recognize our right to say no...
Y'all need to be so forreal. Exxon et al is not gonna be like this country of ~300k ppl said no so I guess we don't get to drill for billions worth of oil... Working on the environment and climate change is a nice sentiment but the truth is, it was never up to us.
@adreaminadream No we don't. However, seeing that we're going to get all the negative side effects of it anyway...we should at least set ourselves up to profit from it. It's really the only choice that makes sense. Could yell at the govt all you want but it's not their ball or their court.
@adreaminadream They can absolutely do that if they want to. They do not need our help to drill that oil, let's be clear. If they decide that they want to drill here, not really sure what you believe the govts' recourse will be.
