Oh, really? Hasn't the Supreme Court repeatedly held that in appropriate cases (police brutality on peaceful student protesters is certainly under it), even a simple letter can be treated as a writ petition under Article 32?

#BREAKING Chief Justice of India Surya Kant refutes reports that he refused to list petition against police action on student protests.

CJI says there was no petition filed in the #SupremeCourt, and a lawyer had mentioned only a letter representation. CJI says it was irresponsible and reckless reporting by the media.

"In last two days, a completely false statement was made that a matter was filed, and the media is absolutely free from all responsibility, falsely reporting that Chief Justice refused to list the matter. Till morning 10 AM, not a single page has been filed. It was one representation..sent by that Mishra or someone. How can I treat the representation as a writ petition? And people start recklessly reporting this," CJI says.

Earlier protests were parochial in nature with affinity due to caste, region and religion. But, this one has transcended far enough to catch everybody's attention. Supporting BJP isn't trend anymore. They might come back in 2029, but 2034...no way if they don't mend their way.

The Government has made its position crystal clear.

Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju has said the Government is ready for a discussion on the #NEET paper leak. The Government wants a meaningful debate on the future of India’s youth and is prepared to hold it under the rules of Parliament.

Now the ball is in the Opposition’s court.

If Congress and its allies are serious about students, they should let Parliament function and participate in the debate, not resort to disruption outside and inside the House. Students deserve discussion, not deadlock.
