This is not so hard to understand? Reading comprehension and knowledge of their own tax laws are seriously lacking in South Korea. Jealousy is blinding them all. 😭 So very sad for them and EunWoo!

Cha Eunwoo fully paid the taxes notified by the National Tax Service. Some interpreted this as an admission of tax evasion, but that conclusion is not supported by how the tax system works. In practice, taxpayers may pay first to prevent additional penalties while continuing to dispute the assessment through legal procedures. Full payment does not equal admission of wrongdoing.
A key fact is that the 40% penalty for fraudulent under-reporting was not applied. Instead, a 10% general under-reporting penalty was used, which applies to administrative issues or differences in legal interpretation, not intentional tax evasion. Penalties are calculated through a combination of reporting penalties and late payment interest, not a single fixed rate. Claims equating the total to a “40% fraud penalty” misunderstand this structure.
The issue centers on tax classification. Income initially reported under a corporate structure was later reclassified as personal income, which carries a higher tax rate and explains most of the additional amount. As a result, the final confirmed additional tax is approximately 13 billion won, not 20 billion, since the higher figure ignores the refund of previously paid taxes and misrepresents the actual net burden.
Claims of “delayed payment” are misleading because taxes can only be paid after an official notice is issued with a confirmed amount, and paying immediately after receiving that notice is standard procedure. Tax disputes also involve multiple stages, and taxpayers have the right to challenge assessments through review and appeal processes. Paying upon notification is often a strategic decision to stop further penalties while continuing legal action, and further appeals remain possible in this case.
A major misunderstanding is the assumption that a large number automatically implies a crime. The 13 billion won reflects a tax rate difference caused by reclassification, not concealed income, and the absence of the 40% fraud penalty confirms that this is not a case of intentional tax evasion. The “20 billion tax evasion” narrative is misleading because it excludes the refund process and lacks proper context.
• There was no intentional concealment of taxes, and the fraud penalty was not applied.
• Payment was made immediately after the official notice, following standard procedure.
• The final additional tax is approximately 13 billion won after adjustments, not 20 billion.

I’m happy that Eun Woo visited my home country to film the show *Finland Rented* in August 2024 ✌️ And that I got to breathe the same fresh, clean Finnish air and be relatively close to him—even though we were in different locations, since the filming was done safely and they were given the space to shoot the show! ✌️

People are talking about the medical necessity of abortion to save the mother's life. I was one of those mothers.
I was diagnosed with an aggressive cancer that was cutting off my airway at 20 weeks of pregnancy. I will never forget when the first doctor, an oncologist, mentioned abortion. We had gone thru years of infertility to get pregnant. I knew I would rather die and give birth. Then I met with another doctor who listed all of the problems the baby would have if I did not terminate. I stood my ground and refused. He said, "That is ok. The baby will probably spontaneously abort anyway."
I searched and found good doctors that supported me, and I gave birth to a healthy baby at 34 weeks.
I will be celebrating 10 years cancer free in May. I have a healthy, beautiful, bright, precious 10 year old daughter who is a living reminder that doctors do not know everything” - Sarah Hull
Yes, I’m glad SBS tried to clear up the rumor that someone was paid billions of won to report Eunwoo. However, I hope future fact checks also reflect the full context.
Based on what’s been publicly reported, the audit didn’t begin because someone reported Eunwoo. It began with the investigation into Fantagio and Namgoong Kyun, and Eunwoo’s company was reviewed as part of that broader audit.
His case is an administrative tax interpretation dispute, not a criminal case. He paid the assessed tax, exercised his legal right to appeal, and there have been no charges filed against him ever.
I hope future reporting includes these important details so the public can better understand the situation. Accurate context helps everyone, and we’re always grateful when journalists take the time to work to get the full story right. 🤍

Fuel is becoming ridiculously expensive.
Just filled the car I am taking on a road trip up.
£90 for 50 British litres
Which is about $9.09 per gallon in the USA.
For comparison, when road tripping America I paid about $3.50 per gallon
Dear Cha Eunwoo fans,
We kindly ask everyone to be mindful and selective about the information you consume and share right now. The reality is simple: CHA EUNWOO is exercising his standard right to file an appeal, which is nothing more than a legal right available to any Korean citizen.
Many things will continue to surface, so please stay strong and focused. Media outlets and detractors will likely try to spin new stories, exaggerate details, or overanalyze the situation just to create narratives that stray from the truth. Please do not waste your time or energy on unverified reports and articles. Whenever there is important, verified news to share, we will post it here.
We kindly ask everyone to channel their energy into the ongoing awards voting, as it is the most tangible way to show EUNWOO that we are right here with him. We kindly ask everyone to participate and join us in voting for both the Korea Drama Awards and the iMBC Awards. Without you and your unwavering support, we cannot make this happen! 🩵

This week, Donghwi shared a reel about the characteristics that are often present in the journeys of successful people. Among all the reflections, one in particular deeply resonated with me:
“The same experience can lead to a completely different life depending on how you interpret it. The same obstacle becomes the end for one person, while for another it becomes the beginning of the next stage.”
He did not mention his brother at any point, and I want to make that absolutely clear, but this message made me think about Eunwoo’s story.
EW: “When I was a trainee, people told me I was really bad. They even asked me what I was doing there because I seemed to be terrible at everything.”
He described that period as one of the most difficult times of his life. Even so, he chose to stay and keep moving forward.
I remembered that and found myself thinking that perhaps this is exactly the point of the reel’s message: it is not only our experiences that shape our journey, but the way we choose to respond to them.
That is why I believe that a man who found the strength to keep going after hearing such harsh words will hardly allow his story to be defined by the criticism he receives today for exercising his legal right. I believe he is continuing to do what he has always done: turning obstacles into foundations for the next stage.
I have no doubt that he will come out even stronger from all this. And we'll be here to applaud you once again 💜🥹
