Digestion starts in the mouth. In the yogic tradition there is an advice to chew 24 times before swallowing. A major reason is that pre-digested food will cause less dullness in the system.
According to yoga, the most bioavailable foods are genetically simple foods, such as plants, eaten close to their raw, live form. Cooked food is best eaten within 1.5 hours of cooking, as it's observed that as cooked food sits longer, it generates more lethargy when eaten.
Do you feel heavy, light, alert, or tired after eating? If you pay attention, you probably already know whether food on your plate will energize or deplete you. If you become tired, heavy, or foggy after food, try cutting out the culprits to see if you feel better after eating.
Cool water showers/dips can transform fatigue to alertness.
Before classical yoga practices, the recommendation is to shower or dip in water 5 to 8° C below room temperature.

To act effectively, it's also important to rest effectively.
Sadhguru says the body needs restfulness, not sleep. If you bring restfulness and ease to the system, "once it is well-rested, it is eager to come to life."
