How do #trypanosomes restrict #IFT to only 4 doublet microtubules? 2 hypotheses were proposed (restriction @ the flagellum base or @ the injection) but @Aline_A_Alves reveals it is a third way! It all happens in the proximal portion of the flagellum! (BioRxiv link@ end of thread)
Great work from Serge Bonnefoy who managed to decipher why dynein arms were only missing at the distal portion of flagella in the LRRC56/ODA8 trypanosome mutant, unravelling an unexpected connection with the docking complex!
