Just saw Robert Eggers' Nosferatu.
As a historian, more than any other director, I trust Eggers to capture the "vibes" of a historical setting, even a fantasy one like this.
From the standpoint of capturing the 1830s in Germany, this film is great.

JULEBUKK During Yuletide in Norway a Julebukk, or tricksy goat figure, goes door to door, indulging in carolling & trick or treating. These wonderful figures draw on fairy tale human to animal transformation as well as animal mumming

I’ve dipped a toe in over at the other place so would love to find you there. But in the meantime, I found out today that Backalong is part of the Poetry Book Society’s Christmas gift guide and I’m very happy about that! @BloodaxeBooks

Brilliant thread. I cannot tell you how distressing and demoralising this was at the time - I mean, I literally cannot explain how bad it was or how hard we were working or how scared we were. And now I cannot recruit teachers and there are precious few trainees, and no wonder😔
For it is St. Martinmass. Din of geese parading in Weychester for the Bishop's Goose Fair make many regret their witch pints. Cunning folk scour lanes in search of soot and scorching caused by the ghostlights of the night before. Winter grows impatient. - #CLNolan#Martinmass
IT IS ENORMOUSLY UPLIFTING, GENUINELY HEARTWARMING TO EXPERIENCE SUCH A WONDERFUL REACTION TO THE RELEASE OF 'SONGS OF A LOST WORLD' - TO EVERYONE WHO HAS BOUGHT IT, LISTENED TO IT, LOVED IT, BELIEVED IN US OVER THE YEARS - THANK YOU - X
