Just finished Diana: Swan Song and I came away understanding Diana on a much deeper, more personal level. I can see why so many women who were teenagers or adults in the ’80s and ’90s saw themselves in her. Her sensitivity, fear of rejection, impulsivity, and @cspencer1508’s discussion of possible ADHD and Rejection Sensitive Dysphoria (RSD) felt incredibly human and familiar.
What strikes me about some of the criticism of this book is how little people understand how history works. In 100 years, books like this will be used to understand Diana as a historical figure: her relationships, the institution around her, the press, and the people who shaped her life.
Nobody will care about the loud media voices doing their best to distract from it today. The words are on paper now. They are part of the historical record. A lot of today’s noise and opinions won’t be.
Perhaps that’s why this book feels dangerous to some. Diana is becoming history, and history may judge the people around her very differently than today’s headlines do. #SwanSong
ABC News has obtained video from inside the fraternity house where the alleged sexual assault at Cornell University took place, revealing disturbing new details in the case. @AaronKatersky reports.
Well done, Charles Spencer! I have enormous respect for you for standing your ground and saying it directly to her face. After years of books and accounts that many of us believe have distorted the truth, accountability is long overdue.
Leigh McGowan: College rapists become workplace rapists. They become the deans and the lawyers and the judges responsible for holding future rapists accountable.
There are rapists in the police. There are rapists on the Supreme Court. There are rapists in the Oval Office.
What does that say about us?
Renée Good's partner: I don't hate the people who took Renée from us. But what I want them to understand is every single day they get to look at their children, their wives, their sisters, and know what they took away from our family. Caring for each other shouldn't cost you your life. We are here because Renée's love and legacy demanded a better world.
Gov. @KathyHochul on Cornell University:
No institution gets to protect its reputation at the expense of a person seeking justice. No public official gets to look the other way when the system breaks down. I will not allow anyone to sweep this case under the rug. If something terrible happens, students deserve to know that people will listen to them, protect them, and fight for them. This brave young woman deserved that in 2024.
BREAKING: Gov. Kathy Hochul has removed the Cornell rape investigation from the local district attorney and appointed New York Attorney General Letitia James as special prosecutor.
The move is a major escalation after Hochul said she lost confidence in the Tompkins County DA’s handling of the case. James now has authority to independently investigate the assault and prosecute if warranted.
The case had already been reopened after new evidence surfaced in a civil lawsuit.

JACK SMITH: "It's inconceivable to me how you can pardon people who beat police officers....and then villify the officers." The officers sitting behind him. 💙
Reminder that two current U.S. Supreme Court justices are accused of sexual misconduct:
• Brett Kavanaugh
• Clarence Thomas
That’s nearly a quarter of the Supreme Court.
