1. Use your tools (⬇️pneumo, mesh, relaxing incision…)
2. Experience matters - should be done in high volume centers

I’ve been attending @AmCollSurgeons clinical congress as a yearly event since 2012 when I was a resident. I have represented UCSD & then Johns Hopkins. So excited to attend my first clinical congress representing @uthealthaustin & @DellMedSchool.

While we hope to not create or encounter fistulas 😥😳😟, @SLBachman is helping us be prepared to manage that disaster. Big take homes - don’t hold off on enteral feeds until surgery & educate your patient so they can manage expectation. This will be a long road.
