An imam at Glasgow’s Al-Mahdi Islamic Centre wept on Iranian TV as he mourned the ayatollah in Tehran.
This is the same centre given almost £400k of taxpayers' cash by the SNP.

Aren’t you the minister for safeguarding women against violence?
And you have to apologise for what you tweeted after a fellow female politician was violently murdered?
Isn’t that a resigning matter?
It’s beggars belief that Labour are taxing education in our country while spending taxpayers’ money to subsidise private schools abroad. This is utterly absurd.
This is what you get from a government with no leadership & a terrible record on education.
On oil & gas, Norway are right.
👉They value the jobs, energy security, investment and tax revenues the sector brings.
🥀While in the UK, Miliband and Labour want to turn off the taps so we can import more oil and gas… from Norway!
It makes no sense.
'One care worker, 15 dependents... This country, demographically, is changing at a rate of knots.'
@MichelleDewbs and her panel react to migrant care workers exploiting the system to bring large numbers of 'dependants' into the country alongside them.
Andy Burnham is now taking a few questions, albeit in highly controlled circumstances. He’s coming across as a bit Forrest Gump: well-meaning, naïve, uninformed.
So let’s get real. Here’s a proper question about a huge issue.
There are almost 11m people of working age in the UK who are economically inactive.
Yet Skills England reports that construction is short of 1m workers to meet the current infrastructure and housing targets — and that’s before you include Mr Burnham’s plans for a massive council house building programme.
It’s a clear sign of a labour market — skills shortage AND huge inactive labour pool — not functioning properly.
It needs to be put right before we have any chance of decent growth.
So, Mr Burnham, what would you do to put it right?
The optics are dreadful.
The KC representing bereaved Covid families sharing a boozy lunch with the very politician whose actions are under scrutiny?
At the very least, this is an appalling lack of judgement that damages confidence in the inquiry.
Home Secretary Mahmood says we are to adopt a plan that has allegedly worked in Canada where lefty community groups, universities, charities etc can sponsor asylum seekers
Can I point out that Canada is 49 times the size of the UK and could take the whole of Eritrea and Somalia in and it wouldn’t be a problem.
They have 12 people per square mile, we have 750 people per square mile.
This country is full up. We need a pause on migrants not seeking new ways of bringing people in
Business growth, creation and reward for risk taking is at the heart of the @Conservatives plan for the Economy.
Because as we know,
its not Governments, quangos, Ministers (or even Manchester Mayors...) that create growth.
👉 Businesses do.
If what this SNP branch secretary says is true - that the party's in-house solicitor knew (and was discussing) problems with SNP finances three YEARS before Murrell's arrest - that blows Swinney's paper-thin "we're the victims, nothing more to see here" routine out of the water.
The SNP is prioritising changing the law so more people with “limited leave to remain” can stand for election.
After 19 years in government, that’s where ministers have chosen to spend parliamentary time.
Not tackling NHS waiting lists. Not raising school standards. Not fixing Scotland’s broken justice system.
That tells you everything about the SNP’s priorities.
Credit to @Mike_Blackley and @MailOnlineScot
It would be interesting if someone - who would need deep pockets- directly accused Sturgeon of criminality. To defend her reputation she would need to take a defamation case which would allow all & any evidence to be heard in open court. https://t.co/og0OiolJEC
Utterly disgraceful & disrespectful behaviour from the new SNP MP for Arbroath & Broughty Ferry. She added a preamble to the loyal oath indicating she didn’t accept it, then read the actual words holding up crossed fingers, presumably to signify she didn’t believe it. Awful.
Hiking national insurance
The Family Farm Tax
Giving up on real welfare reform
Not funding our defence
Not drilling our own oil and gas
Appointing Peter Mandelson…then lying about what had happened
Britain is not ungovernable. Keir Starmer is a terrible Prime Minister. But the problem isn’t just Starmer.
Labour MPs only want higher taxes to hand out more benefits, as the Welfare Secretary has pointed out. These are Labour’s choices and their values, regardless of who is running the party.
We need to get Britain working again. We need the @Conservatives.
I quite often faced difficult questions from the press coming out of the chamber.
I would never, ever, have wanted to restrict their ability to do their job.
An awful look for Parliament and the MSPs who called for this.
