@GMB It’s not the teachers that do it, it’s the teaching assistants because the teachers are teaching. We are being pulled away from vital roles supporting learning; aiding children who are struggling to change a child’s nappy.

How true is this though?

I was made to sit next to a boy who was extremely disruptive in order to ‘help’ him and he did nothing but distract me and get me in trouble for months.

I was expected to change his behaviour, keep him quiet, influence him to concentrate, and basically manage his behaviour!

So I have a few things to say on this pattern:

1. Stop making girls and women responsible for boys and mens’ behaviour

2. If you are a teacher - do not do this to girls in your class, it’s totally unfair on them. It’s your job to address the behaviour of the disruptive student, not hers.

3. Consider how we set the scene for domestic abuse and lives of servitude and managing male behaviour by expecting girls at school to do this when they should be focussing on their education

@Teacherglitter A teacher took the role of TA for a day and declared “I’m exhausted, being a TA is hard!” 😂 Yes it is - teachers work long hours but TAs work very hard for their little pay.
