My LOVE LETTER to Arizona ….. Arizona, the mold broke when you were created, and I am grateful every day to live in and bask in the beauty of your glory. How fortunate we are to live in such a majestic state. I love you Arizona ❤️ you have my heart and my absolute dedication to preserve and continue to commit to your beauty, culture, community and greatness. Thank you for building, supporting, holding and strengthening me. I will forever be in your debt and always one of your greatest champions. I love you, Arizona.
❤️💙💛
I’m incredibly excited to return to my hometown and speak at the 2025 NRWC — right here in one of my two favorite cities, Pittsburgh! 🖤💛 Pittsburgh and Phoenix the two cities who absolutely made me who I am today and surrounded me with me with some of the finest best people I have ever known. and of course, bring on the Steeler game. Sunday night cannot come soon enough.
so if you are in Pittsburgh come join me on October 22 from 2:45–3:45 PM for my session, “Leading Through Change.” I’ll be sharing insights on how nonprofits can build resilience and sustainability by understanding their true costs, investing in wellness and leadership capacity, and reframing outcomes like employment, family reunification, and reduced recidivism as measurable social and economic returns.
We’ll also dive into how nonprofits can better demonstrate their incredible significance and ROI — not just as mission-driven organizations, but as essential drivers of community and economic strength.
I’m so proud to bring this conversation home to Pittsburgh and connect with so many inspiring leaders and changemakers. Hope to see you there!

This post says it perfectly and why I am still inspired by our sold-out 2025 Fair Chance Employment Symposium two days ago at the Arizona Biltmore. It was a day of connection, innovation, and commitment. We honored Fair Chance Champions like Sen. Shawnna Bolick, Rep. Sarah Liguori, and Mercy Cares AZ for creating opportunities for justice-impacted individuals. Keynote speaker Jeffrey Korzenik, author of Untapped Talent, shared why second-chance hiring is smart business. Our panel on fair chance programs sparked lasting action.
Fair chance hiring tackles a crisis: one in three U.S. adults has a criminal record, facing barriers that fuel poverty and recidivism. It empowers women and families through Arouet’s education, mentorship, and reentry programs, while addressing workforce shortages. Data proves it: 85% of HR leaders say justice-impacted employees perform as well or better, boosting loyalty, engagement, and innovation. It brings economic equity, reduces segregation for Black and Latinx women, and improves public safety.
We’ve seen its impact in Arizona, helping hundreds of women rebuild with dignity. Our vision goes nationwide, where fair chance hiring builds inclusive economies. We’re expanding partnerships, advocating policies, and sharing best practices to inspire employers everywhere. Everyone deserves a fair shot to heal inequities and create a brighter future.
Thanks to title sponsor JPMorgan Chase, co-chairs Mayor Kate Gallego and Jessica Pacheco, and all attendees. Employers, policymakers, advocates: let’s connect and make second chances standard. #FairChanceHiring #SecondChances #ArouetEmpowers #CriminalJusticeReform #WomenInLeadership #UntappedTalent
Philadelphia votes 13-0 to strengthen fair chance hiring for 400,000+ residents with records. Convictions now only considered when directly relevant to the role. Second chances aren’t just right—they’re essential for our economy. https://t.co/OVu9EwuieW
How Fair Chance Hiring Practices Strengthen the Entire Workforce - National League of Cities. I could not be more inspired by this article. We just hosted our @Arouetforgood #FairChanceEmployerSymposium Co-hosted by our @MayorGallego. 👏👏 https://t.co/FYRVElkwSb

.@SHRM finds 2 in 3 HR pros say their orgs have hired people with records, & @FastCompany cites SCBC members @JPMorgan@Chase & @flowersfoods’ @KillerBread as leaders. It’s time the public narrative caught up to reality: second chance hiring isn’t charity, it’s smart business.
My heart is full. ❤️Arouet’s Fair Chance Symposium was a day filled with inspiration, wisdom and action. A testament to what’s possible when we come together to improve our communities by empowering the people within them! stay tuned @X more information, photographs, and great ideas. We have a lot to share.
Being a part of this follow, Friday is truly a highlight for me it’s just a weekly reminder that there are some really amazing people out there want to make this world a better place. And I’m so happy to be associated with all of you. 👏
we had the biggest event of the year yesterday in my organization; after the event was over a number of us went to the bar I insisted that the Steeler game be on. I had my Halloween terrible towel. And I have to be honest it was a very depressing ending to one of the best days of my life. But Wednesday I get on a plane I fly to Pittsburgh and I’m gonna watch a win against the Packers. #HereWeGo
@MilaLovesJoe Just turned 61 truly some of the best days of my life you’re in for a good time my mother always said 50s were the best but we’re a new generation so I’m all on board with 60s being absolutely the best
