TONGUE. This is #Euglossa imperialis it, like the rest of its clade of shiny #orchid #bees, has a long tongue, actually ... this species has a particularly long tongue even compared to other orchid bees.

The Forgetful Bee. Sorry, anthropomorphizing is fun. We are fun. Therefore we are calling this the forgetful bee. It is also a male Florilegus condignus, collected and photographed by Chelcey Nordstrom in the Kenilworth Aquatic Gardens in Washington D.C.

Just reworked a 'stack' from a local site which had Willughby’s leafcutter bee which took residence in a fence post

I hope they back next year as I was actually looking for owls and had to do this handheld - would have been so much easier with a tripod!
