@camiscribbles @clpolk Red Rising is a good example of this, where the first chapter sets him up with a conflict, but in more of a “day-in-the-life” way to begin the world building. It shows us his character under pressure but doesn’t kick off the main plot yet

@meagwalshrus Sounds like youve done a lot of research and know a lot more about Taylor Swift than I probably ever will. I am only pointing out the double standards that I've seen. @kendybay , I don't believe we've met, but I am a massive advocate for women lifting each other up 1/2

@meagwalshrus So no, I am not saying the sexism she's faced is invalid because of how successful she is. I'm saying I do not believe her gender has impeded her success as a musician. And that when we let multimillionaires say the rate at which they got their wealth is unfair, I don't buy it.

@meagwalshrus Haha, I think it's fair to like the song or even see it as a commentary on women's struggles. My original tweet stands that she is a rich, celebrated pop star. If she was a man, she wouldn't have gotten there quicker, because part of her rise to fame was role-modelling for girls.

@Hawes_Kira @MattAchtymichuk I do believe we should be paid for our work, and I'm not sure if I would have taken an unpaid position if it hadn't been for COVID-19 and I just really wanted to meet my graduation expectations. But just a word of warning, there's often a lot more than meets the eye

@Hawes_Kira @MattAchtymichuk Sometimes they're being taken care of by wealthy parents. Sometimes they live in a low income neighbourhoods, work a job outside of their field while completing their internship in nonstop labour, and pay their housing, living and schooling bills on their own.
